Аss-umptions. Some Americans will choose the BETTER coverage, even

if it costs a little more. Or both - lots of people are covered by their own

plan at work AND their spouse's.

It's not my experience that LOTS of people have double coverage. I'd say the better word is a FEW.

In fact, some employers WILL NOT cover a spouse who has coverage elsewhere. Now, that is also a newer development in cost savings and at the moment I would say that category also represents a small percentage of people.

Most people have just one plan.

Unfortunately this Congressman is not my congressman as I live in a neighboring district. He replaced a Congresswoman that promised not to vote for the Presidents health care plan, then after a very highly publicized meeting with the President, she voted for it after all. The district leans conservative and she went downhill from there with her constituents. The republican candidate defeated her last election.

Yes, one of his promises is to make spending cuts and to try and lower the deficit, as well as appeal the new health care laws. He is basically working for the US and its citizens using a conservative approach. In contrast to my Congressman who is a main sponsor of the dream act in the house and supports other illegal immigrant empowering legislation.

Maybe I should move???

I'm in the same situation. I live 4 blocks away from conservative Rep. John Culberson's district, but I am stuck being (mis)represented by far Left liberal Rep. Al Green. Needless to say...I am not being represented along with any other conservative voice within the district.

Instead of moving I work at dumping Al Green at every opportunity I get, but am stymied by gerrymandered demographics.

This is one reason the Senate is an "at large" position rather than the House's district oriented position. Al's office stopped responding to my correspondence concerning issues important to me long ago. He feels he doesn't need my vote and ignores me...so ** him! I go to my Senators with my concerns, but still write to his office just to irritate him and chastise him about his voting record. I get at least some satisfaction out of that.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

No.

What this guy is doing makes no sense. Ok so he has turned down his guvmint healthcare. But he's not doing what the REST of us would do and find the most affordable coverage he could through a job. Which it appears he has access to.

It just looks like grandstanding.

Looks like grandstanding to me too. Just like the BS over bank employees pay. Who gives a toss.

what do you expect from politicians? Kind of like a Presidential candidate saying he will close Gitmo or end the war or pass Environmental Protection laws. It is just to get votes and pander to certain people dumb enough to believe it means anything.

I'd be nice if Ole Obamer had a few -kept promises- to "grand stand" about now wouldn't it?

If he had taken the Health care he was allowed to then the Socialists would be screaming that he is a hypocrite. Now he doesn't take they are whining about it. Go figure.whistling.gif
