5+

because we wanted to

IMO marrying someone after one visit is insanity.

some could say the same thing about marriage period.

I visited India once after we talked for 2 years, he moved here on the K1 visa 11 months later and we got married two weeks later. So I guess that's one trip...before he moved here. I wish it could have been more than once. He was denied a tourist visa to come here and I couldn't afford to go again before he moved here. We are still married 6 years later. So there ya go.

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

he asked me to marry him on the second trip which was only 3 weeks after the first trip... we were going to get married a few months after that but due to unforeseen circumstances we didn't get married until about a year and half later..

after he asked me to marry him we saw each other about once every other month but just for a weekend.. once we did go 6 months without seeing each other....

the most time we spent together was after our wedding when he stayed for a week...

I met my fiance in the US (i was there for the summer) and we spent 3 months together, and then we made a deal - he comes to visit me in winter for a couple of weeks and i go to the States every summer for 2-3 months. It's been 2 and a half years since then and we just filed the petition.

We (my Brazilian husband and I) met in person (I was living in Brazil and we met there). When my work contract was up I went home alone because although we loved each other very much and knew we wanted to be together, I'd say we weren't quite ready to make a decision on our future yet. We knew we wanted to eventually marry, but we'd been dating for less than a year when I left. I seriously thought about staying in Brazil but I decided to come home instead. We continued our relationship despite the distance and planned on somehow/somewhere making it work. We couldn't stand the distance and were sure we wanted to be together.

I returned twice to visit (one time for 2 weeks and the second trip for almost 3 months). During those trips we discussed marriage and decided the best option would be for him to move to the U.S. The third trip back to Brazil was to accompany him to his K1 interview.

By the time we got married we'd been dating for 2.5 years. April will be 4 years of marriage. I'm sooooo glad we "lived together" before we got married, but it still took some adjusting once he was settled in the U.S. We're now preparing to move back to Brazil in a few months! I can't wait.

I don't know how many trips is the answer. We have been married three years, and we are still getting to know each other.

Personally I think you can be married for 50 years and are still getting to know each other. I'm just more wondering if it is typical to get the distance done and out of the way. However it seems most people are spending more than a couple of trips then deciding. I think in our case we talk tons and tons online so we feel we do know each other quite a bit. I realize we can't know each other physically in just one trip but I don't think you can fully know someone in 5 trips either. Getting to know each other is going to take time either way. However we are prepared for that. :)

so far i've had two trips to see my fiance and planning a 3rd one for October maybe November this year, Both my previous ones have been 3 months at a time to get to know Randy, his two children as his family :)

We have been talking online since October 2008 which is a long time and was odd as he was exactly the same in person as offline, if not a little more outgoing than he appeared to be there was no nerves or strange period of adjusting to meeting in person it flowed natuarally, parhaps it's because we'd been speaking to eachother almost 2 years at the point of our first meet plus using webcams and voicing. Who knows but we are still finding out eachothers quirks and little habits to this day. :D

~We started chatting online through a chat room in October 2007~

~We decided to have an online a relationship till we felt comfortable enough to meet in January 2008~

~Yay we finally met at chicago airport February 2010~

~Randy asked me to marry him March 2010 (informally with the promise of saving for a ring for my next trip)~

~Stayed with Randy for 3 month Vacation till April 2010 {it was great and I didn't want to come home =0( ~

~October 2010 Went to see randy for a second time for 3 months wohoo (was so sad to leave but it was a great 3 months)~

~25th October 2010 Randy asked me to marry him formally with a twin set ring the day I got there (was the happiest moment of my life)~

~To date saving for a 3rd trip, wedding and birth cert and hopfully applying for a CR-1 visa instead of a K-1 visa as origionally planned~

I married my husband on my first trip to see him. I did end up going to see him a total of 4 times while we waited for his visa. If I had to do it over again I would have waited only because I think it was a red flag to marry after only meeting once. I'm happy to say he's here in the US for 3 yrs and things are going well.
