updates?

I hope so. I just saw this now and have never seen this happen at this consulate. I have a couple of times seen where they found out that the petitioner was waiting outside and asked that they be brought in but that was many years ago and over all this time of dealing with this consulate that was only a couple of times. Never heard of them asking for a stokes interview though.

This consulate seems to be changing its tactics again and that may be that they have changed their personnel somewhat. Really want to get updated on this.

All this talk of Stokes interviews brings back bad memories of Guayaquil. HCMC is one of the few places that sounds even worse. Updates, please, OP.

I have a situation that I haven't seen him before so I thought that I would post it here.

My fiancé and I have known each other for four years and we submitted all the paperwork for her K-1 visa and eventually she had her interview on January 15.

We were pretty thorough in the paperwork we submitted and sent information such as e-mails, phone calls, chat logs, photos, cards, letters - everything we thought she would need for a successful interview. I had also visited her 5 times in Vietnam.

Unfortunately she failed the interview and the reason given was that she failed to prove a real relationship.

This was very disappointing but then, 3 days ago, she received a phone call from the interpreter telling her to come back for another interview on February 16, and to bring me so that she can see my face to prove that I was a real person!!! I was just there in Nov. 2010 and I can probably go again, but it will be a huge problem for me to go half way around the world (I am in California) in only 2 weeks just to show my face for 5 minutes with no guarantee that she will get a visa.

Has anyone ever heard of this happening before?

Thanks,

Bruce

Interesting:

I was also back to Vietnam in Nov 2010 (3rd trip) in 2 years which is more than the USCIS requires for meeting your fiance. And Hue's 1st interview was Jan 19th and she was a granted a blue letter of denial with consular wanting her to tell them the address of my ex-wife who is from Iran that used me to gain a usa citizen-ship. I know she was turned in to USCIS twice and lucky her is still here and has been receiving green cards since 2008. Hue's 2nd interview was also Feb 19th with a white letter denial this time telling her that the paperwork had to be reprocessed. But I have since read that they sit on the paperwork, since there is not enough incredible evidence to return it to USCIS. So if they sit on it long enough, the petition finally just expires and you give up are start up all over. Have you added your name to the class A lawsuit that is on this web-site?

updates?

Sorry for the delay in updating...

Instead of my fiance going alone to the interview when they asked for me to be there, she decided to ask for another interview date in the future, hopefully in 2 or 3 months when I can probably arrange to come there. That was done on the day of the scheduled interview at the information door last week. They said okay, and she is now waiting for the letter with the new interview date.

Will keep you posted....

Seems to happen all the time for this country/consulate. Get more information from the appropriate regional forums.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

Here is the latest....

I went to Vietnam and went with my fiance to the interview 2 weeks ago. We waited about an hour in the room with about 50 other people when they finally called her number. I didn't go to the window with her, but sat near the interview area so the interviewer could see me and call me up to ask any questions. I could hear most of the interview and he asked my fiance about me and our relationship, what I did for a living, etc. She showed him pictures of our engagement party along with all the other paperwork and evidence we submitted and in only 10 or so minutes, he gave her the pick paper. She was APPROVED for her visa which she picked up one week later. Unbelievable, it seemed to happen so fast and easy. He didn't even talk to me, but definitely saw me sitting there. She thinks me being there made all the difference.

She is coming here this Sunday and it will be the beginning of our life together here in the US.

Thanks to everyone for their support and encouragement.
