I have to re-send my petition for my fiancee in Egypt...it was a minor mistake on my part as I did not fill in all the blanks specially the marriage part. The I-179C NOA was corrected send and signed by D. Sawyer. Waiting for NOA1 approval. My main concern now is for my fiancee's safety who is living in Egypt. I do not know if the US embassy in Cairo will be processing visas to all Egyptian national that their fiancee's have filed. I need to send him a packet of the same application that i have sent to the USCIS.....this is worrying me so much I do not know if FEDEX office in Alexandria will even be open in Egypt.... Hopefully things will get better for those poor people.... i talk to him constantly just worried about his safety there....... :(

My husband comes from a country where religion boils over regularly and I know how bad not knowing is. But bad news seems to always travel faster than good . Relax and just trust that things will work themselves out.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

You can call FedEx here on its toll-free line and ask to speak with a supervisor who's familiar with the situation. Of course, no one can predict what might happen in the couple of days that it would take for your package to arrive, or what level of processing and distribution there will be.

You can Google "U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Egypt" (and, the U.S. Department of State website) for what should be rather up-to-date reports on the situation. In times of civil unrest, our embassies typically close down temporarily. Hang in there.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

If you just applied he will not need a copy until his interview which won't be for several months. You could wait to send it until then.

His best bet is to lay low. This will pass, and if he stays out of the line of fire, he can pick up where he left off.

Did the service center reject your petition, or are you just anticipating that they will? If the latter, there is nothing to file with them until you get the RFE. By all means, fix whatever mistakes you think need to be fixed so you are ready when the time comes, but you will have to wait until the present situation passes before getting anything to him.

I am sure this is unnerving, as it would be for me if a similar thing would happen in Russia. Just have some faith that your man knows what to do and not do until the crisis passes.

Petition was not rejected they told me to resend it again to make sure that i fill in the blanks. I was so tired that day when i did the paperwork working all day did not help. There was a note that states to put this on the top so that when they received the paperwork they will take care of it first. I hope they do. I have two weeks to wait now and see where we go from here. Talked to him today and he said people are looting and they are trying to protect what they have right now. Just so nervous about this messed. He lives in Fowa close to Meniat El Ashraf, today he was helping to protect the police station as the rioter are trying to burn the police station. I hope these messed will be over soon. It is so nerve racking......

I am glad to hear that he is all right and can communicate with you by telephone.

If there is something he needs to sign before you can re-send the petition, it will simply have to wait for this thing to calm down to safer levels. His safety is the priority right now.
