Greetings,

My wife will be filing for removal of conditions this June. After that she will apply for citizenship as soon as she can.

I understand that she can not file any sooner, for citizenship, than 3 years after she removes conditions.

That being said... when does the 3 year clock start ticking?

From the date on her new 10 year card or from the date of approval to remove conditions??

Why do I ask you might question???

Well...

She has a younger sister who could come over with her parents if the timing is right. Her sister is going to be approaching 21 years old about the time my wife could become a citizen.

If we file to bring her parents over, after my wife is a citizen, this should include all younger children as I understand things. Yes? No??

This would include her younger sister...

But....

If this sister turns 21 after we file, is she still included on the parents application??

Grandfathered in so to speak...

Thanks for any info on this.

-Phil

Filed: Citizen (apr) Country: China
Timeline

Seems everyone misunderstands what is meant by 3 years

It is 3 years of residency, this starts when you get a 2 year CR-Green-Card, residency does NOT start after removal of conditions.

So in essence you can file that N-400 1 year after you file the I-751 to remove conditions.

As for younger sister, NO petition for parents will not bring sister over, wife can file a petition for sibling, but for Philippines it can take upwards of 20 years to get a visa under F-4 priority, would be better for parents to file the petition after they arrive and get their green-cards.

In addition to that ur wife can only petition her parents once she is a citizen. U can not file for her parents. For her sistes would take decades before it will happen.
