Rejection Notice for I-765

We recently sent in forms for AOS (I-485, I-130, I-765, I-864 - all together). To our surprize, USCIS sent us back one of our checks for $380.00, which was for the I-765 application. The notice stated, "The form was submitted with an extra remittance that is not required to process your application, or the incorrect fee was submitted. Your check is being returned to you with this notice."

Does that mean that they have accepted the other applications? Also, I'm currently on H1-B, and I'm not sure why they sent us this notice and gave us back our check. Any advise?

You didnt need to send payment for the I-765 as you had filed the i-130 and i-485 concurrently.

You overpaid.

The I-765 is free when submitted in conjunction with the I-485. That is why they rejected it. From your wording, it seems like they may have accepted the I-765 and just sent back the check, but I can't exactly tell. If they didn't accept the app, you can reapply (no fee) if you attach a copy of your NOA1 for 485, but if you are on H1B, I would think you don't need a new EAD. Good luck.

Nice of USCIS to return that fee, BONUS!

Need to READ the instructions for I-485, The last page does mention, that no fee needed for I-765, and I-131 when they are based on a pending I-485...
