Happiness is a purring puddle of cat fuzz on your lap.

Husbands, not so much.

:rofl::lol:

Literally - laughed out loud when I read this!

The title of the book wasn't "Cats are from Mars; Women are From Venus" for a reason!

UmmS is on a roll today! :star:

Awful. Very sad.

IMO these differing perspectives aren't just due to who has been here for a long vs. who is new. It's also a personality thing. Even if I were married to Prince Charming, I would find something to b!tch about (ok, that's probably a bad example, because I think Prince Charming is totally gag, anyone else?). And I've always hated cheerleading (I swear it's not because I secretly always wanted to be a cheerio). I also hate glitter, but not kittens. And let's not get started on the "my Moroccan" bit, I think that's ended badly in the past. I think a lot of mean thoughts in my head, but I'm usually pretty good about controlling what comes out of my mouth and fingers.

I don't know where I was going with this.

We have the most adorable black and white kitty at our shelter. Her previous people lost their homes, so she's with us. She's obviously very overweight, so she's in her own room on a special diet. Whenever you walk by, she squeaks for attention. Loves loves loves to sit on your lap.

The pictures do not do justice to her rotundness. She's a huge beach ball body with a little baseball sized head.

I'm working on operation get a second cat and she's the target. I've tentatively renamed her Squishy, so I will have a Squishy who is squeaky and a Squeaky who is squishy.

But it is happiness..........don't you agree? :D:P

Everything I read, I store in my mind for possible future use. But I just don't get into the total negativity, because I'm expecting my marriage to work out, not the opposite ;)

And the positives outweigh the negatives, right? Otherwise you probably wouldn't still be married. As long as people know how to deal with situations and are able to communicate with each other, and truly love each other, they should be fine.

Yes, the positives outweight the negatives. But, there will be times that it feels like the negatives outweigh the postives. Peaks and valleys....if people are only expecting the peaks, they will run for divorce court when they're down in the valleys.

That's all. It seems like the "my man; my everything; my happiness; my soul", blah, blah, blah people aren't expecting or prepared for the valleys.

This is the kind of cat I dream of. About 6 years ago, I had a big fat white cat named George. I was so heartbroken when he died that I did not get another cat. I have been really dreaming of a big adult cat. I need to go to the shelter and go find a nice big fat happy cat that lets me hug him or her

I say, the true test of the relationship is when lack of sleep comes in to the picture. Either from screaming kids at 2am or from working mad overtime to buy those new Pumas. When you're so tired, you're stumbling like a drunk and dinner hasn't been made- who's gonna do it? When the kid has a blowout in the middle of the night- who's going to clean it up?

I remember being all rainbows and unicorns and staying up half the night on MSN sending hearts and blushing smilies. When I think back to those days, I LOL. Especially when I look at the kitchen sink at all the damn dishes to be done, when I've been out working 14 hours and he's been watching movies on the HBO I pay for. Marriage is fun.

Rainbows and Unicorns

Go wash those dishes girlie.

That's in any marriage. I was married for 24 years, raised four kids (including triplets, no I'm not a baby machine lol). I know about marriage issues and married/family life. I'm not a newcomber, just a newcomber to MENA life......;) I think a marriage needs love, trust, committment, compromise, compatibility, among other things. If you have those, you can enjoy the peaks, and work through the valleys.
