I was wondering if anyone here knows of an online electronics store in Thailand that I could order an iPod Nano for my fiance and have it sent to her home address in Prachin Buri. I was looking online and could not find one, so I thought I would ask here. I would just get one here and send it to her, but only about half of any letter or package I send to her actually makes it. Plus I wanted her to have it sooner and I thought that shipping it from Thailand to Thailand might not take as long. I did try the online Apple store for Thailand, but they ship out of singapore and their estimated delivery time was like two weeks. It would have been quicker to buy it and send it from here.

My fiance is a farmer and she likes to listen to her iPod while she works. However hers broke and now she does not have one to listen to. I told her to go get another one but there is no place near where she is at.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Another option could be if she has time to go to the apple store you were talking about and you send the money for her to buy a new one. I do not know how far she would have to travel, if it is not to far away you could treat is a 1 day vacation for her or something like that.

Yep, she can get on the van @ wongwein market, and head for Rangsit. Approx:1.5 hrs. She can make a day of it.. Vans have a pick up spot right next to the police box.

( I ordered mine ( Ipod ) off ebay and it was shipped from Singapore and took less than 4 days to get to Prachin. )

3,500 per month is pretty good! How was the noise at night?

Sure, that would be great. I'm considering moving my fiance to BKK in November.

Well, the noise at night was not bad, but if you are one of those who like to sleep in, you are going to ber woken up at about 7 am to trucks and motorbikes. driving down your street.

Wow thai politics just got more interesting reading the second to the last paragraph of this article. http://atimes.com/atimes/Southeast_Asia/MI23Ae01.html

However, another succession scenario foresees the Privy Council declaring a long period of national mourning, perhaps as long as 999 days in auspicious recognition of Bhumibol's reign as the ninth monarch in the Chakri dynasty, and a military-backed suspension of democracy to assure a smooth transition. By law, the Privy Council will have two years to formally crown the next monarch after his or her name is approved by parliament, and the council's members in the interregnum will be legally empowered to assume royal responsibilities.

For those of you living in California. Whenever your spouse is ready to take the driver's written test, be aware that it is available in Thai. Initially, 2 different DMV employees told us that it was not available in Thai. However, today, and after Nan failed her test twice, they showed us a Thai test. Pretty frustrating, but I hope someone can benefit from our experience. Again, insist on a Thai test. It is available in California DMV's.

My wife failed twice on the English test in Texas. She passed on the third try for the written test. Her friend who has lived here for 8 years continues to fail the test. After 3 failures you have to wait 90 days. Pretty frustrating for her.

She's getting pretty good driving on the freeway etc. since she only drove a motor bike in Thailand.

Here in CA, you don't have to wait to retake afte the third failure. You can continue to retake. The only thing is that when you fail for the third time, you have to reapply and pay the fee again. Glad to hear your wife is doing well. I am going to start teaching Nan this weekend. She is pretty excited.

It's pretty amazing all of the languages the test is available in in California (written and audio):

Besides English, the basic Class C written driver license exam is also available in the following languages:

Amharic, Arabic, Armenian, Cambodian, Chinese, Croatian, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hmong, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Laotian, Persian/Farsi, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Romanian, Russian, Samoan, Spanish, Tagalog/Filipino, Thai, Tongan, Turkish, and Vietnamese.

Besides English, the basic Class C audio driver license exam is also available in the following languages:

Armenian, Chinese/Mandarin, Hindi, Hmong, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, and Vietnamese

Now if only the driver license handbook was in Thai (it's in 9 languages: English, Armenian, Chinese, Korean, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog and Vietnamese)!

Here's a crazy one. My wife has been here 2.5 years. Before she came I met some Thai folks here that are awesome. The one lady is older and pretty much hiso. She lives in a big house and so does her daughter with her husband. Two big houses. My wife has gotten along with all of them, especially the pu yai.

She has an Isaan girl working for her as the cook at the restaurant, and has been here for ~ 10 years. She could never pass her written driving exam. My wife passed (3rd try) but still she passed it.

So this Isaan girl (my wife is isaan also) have been great friends. Once my wife passed the test, she started playing games like "I have a good job for you in your neighborhood, but I'm not going to tell you where." Stupid ###### like that.

I lived in Thailand for a few years and was used to the usual B.S. They would tell me end of quarter you can count on us signing a P.O. and at the last minute not sign it. I would ask "why would you do that?" They would say we wanted you to feel good. Needless to say my supervisors in the U.S. didn't like this way of doing business.

I guess my question is are they that petty to dangle a job in front of her face and then take it away because she beat her to driving first? I surely hope not.

We're planning our first visit back to Thailand in early 2012 - probably March.

I haven't been there since Sept 2008, my wife went back for a visit in Feb 2010.

We're excited! We'll have a few days with family in BKK, then a trip up north and probably another to Kho Chang.

A few weeks ago I was seeing airfares ORD-BKK in the $1100 range in March, but now all I'm seeing is > $1300. Oh well. Going to keep monitoring a bit longer.
