Currently.... they have issued Ice the incorrect GC and we have tried 4 times to fix it. First time they had us send it to the incorrect address. Second time they said we used an expired form, which was the form they gave us. Third time was "oh sorry we lost the last page, can you send it again?." Fourth time is the gov is shut down. Will this ever be corrected in time for Ice to get the permanent GC? Stay tuned to find out. T_T

@Aaron- How much does mobilecaller cost?

I have the 3 cents a minute with 3 minute rounding. I like it cause we can call from our cell phones, or house phone, and I am not tied to the computer. You can setup speed dials so it is easy to quickly call the country. My wife would call me let the phone ring twice, hang up and then I would call her back, so that way it was free for her to call, and then I would call her back.

My wife does use the group video calling on Skype with all her friends from who are in different countries and that works very well at the computer.

We use www.voipdiscount.com For about $15(10 Euros), one gets nearly unlimited calls for four months.

It works by going on to the website and setting up the 'caller' and 'receiver.' I use the iPhone App to do this. Press "Call" and the 'caller' in the US receives an incoming local call. At the same time the 'receiver' in Thailand also receives an incoming local call. It uses similar technology as Skype, but uses regular home or cell phones. The internet connection is only needed to establish the call (which smartphones can do from anywhere).

It costs 5 cents to connect each call, which is deducted from the original 10 Euro balance. So that would be up to 200 calls in the 120 day free period. After the 120 days are up, you maintain whatever remaining balance and pay 10 cents to establish a call and 2 cents a minute. Or you could purchase another 10 Euro for another 120 free days and be able to call even more than 200 times.

We've been using the service for about 2 and a half years and likely shall continue to.

I just use Skype. For $13.99 a month it is unlimited calls to North America and 40 other countries around the world. This includes calls to landlines and cell phones in Thailand. Skype has an iPhone App to, so I can call using my phone. It does not cost my fiance anything. When she wants to talk she just gives me a missed call and then I call her back. It works out pretty good.

  • 2 weeks later...

When Pui had her interview this week she saw 2 or 3 people get pink pieces of paper after their interview. I'm just curious if anybody know what the pink piece of paper means at the Bangkok embassy? Planning on writing up Pui's interview review now.

Also this is for anybody who has a fiance or spouse who is not thai going to the Bangkok Embassy might be questioned why they are in Thailand and why they are interviewing in Thailand. Pui met a lady from the Philippines while they were both waiting to be interviewed and she was asked those questions. The interviewer did not seem happy that the lady was interviewing in Thailand.

wow, how did she get that job! I want to do that too. I translated some data collection forms and other things before (for my company so no extra money) and I love it. The point is, translations are one of the subjects I leaned for my degree and never get to use it.. dang!
