I am wondering if anybody knows how long it will to get an interview and does the embassy send a packet 3 or do we just download from the internet? Just got the NOA2 today. Only thing holding me up so far is getting the 2010 tax transcripts because I have a feeling the interview will be late April or May. I did my taxes last week so I think I can request my transcript by early March.

Thanks,

Andy

Time to get an interview varies. Check out similar timelines for an estimate, but it can vary wildly. Some people never receive "packet 3". As soon as you know your case number and your file is at the embassy, you can send in packet 3. See the embassy's website for the forms.

Dearest Anya-D,

What a beautiful picture of your son! You're blessed :innocent:

All is well here. Oh ya...AAm has her biometrics for naturalization on 2/28. USCIS cashed my last check for the N400 a few weeks ago. Believe it or not, I may not have to send them any more money once AAm is a citizen!

I have a question about packet 3. I know Pui will have to get a Verification of unmarried status because she has never been married before. I am the USC do I need to get a Verification of unmarried status as well? I have never been married before. I think it is for her and not me but I want to make sure. I know she will have to go to the same place she would get her ID card from and bring 2 family members with her for her to get that.

Hello Dearest Kang Lang,

Well...the journey will soon be over for AAm! We did her biometrics for naturalization yesterday. All that is left is the interview in a few months! However, I will still be filling out USCIS form! You might not know this, but last year I filed an I-130 Alien Petition for AAm's 15 year old daughter...she is now living with us with a 10 year green card. Its GREAT to finally have her with us! Also, last month I filed an I-130 Alien Petition for AAm's son who is 19. So, he'll be with us in 6 months or so! So, AAm will be done, but I'll still be in the USCIS loop. Blessings to you and your hubby for your ROC and upcoming naturalization!

Blessings - M

The wife went down to file for her police certificate the other day. The police officer was very pleased she had brought the NOA2. Apparently, many people do not bring a letter from the embassy or a NOA2. He told her either was required for a police certificate. Additionally, it will take two weeks to process the police certificate. I am hoping it won't be so long.

Pui went to get her police report two weeks ago and they did not ask for any paperwork from her they just asked her what she needs it for. I had her bring the NOA2 and other documents but they were not asked for. I asked Pui yesterday if the report came in the mail yet and she said "No, I have to go back and pick it up". I thought they mailed it to her?

Maybe it depends who is sitting in the seat at the time, as to whether they ask for NOA2 etc. the officer my wife talked to complained to her that other people did not bring the proper documents. So, go figure. I'll ask my wife if they asked for the other documents. I think my wife specifically asked them to send it to her. They charged her 40 baht for EMS delivery.

Yeah. The officer who helped Pui was from the same province as her and she said he talked and talked. When it came time to take her pic he told her to smile and she said nobody ever told her to smile when she took a pic for the police report or when she got visa photos.
