Air China -- At the time did not have in seat entertainment -- I have not flown with them since. I will pay the extra $100 or $200 for in flight entertainment on long flights. Wish some of the US carries would get a clue on this.

Delta does have in-flight entertainment - they showed me 3 Hollywood movies on the long hop from Detroit to Tokyo (and back) this past November. Some of the Delta planes also had the in-seat screens, even in economy class, and other Delta planes did not. The Bangkok-Tokyo Delta plane did have the in-seat screens even in economy class, flying in both directions.

Flying across the ocean requires in-seat screens. I stick with either ANA or Korean Air.

Over the years I have traveled three different airlines.

United Airlines (Narita) - I first flew to Thailand in 2003. The screening process at NRT was nice at that time. I remember they had young security ladies in cute uniforms doing the inspecting after arriving for a layover. The process went very smoothly and was pleasant. I flew this route again last year. What a painful experience this was. It took forever to make it through the re-screening process this time round. The staff wasn't half as pleasant as they were in 2003. I may not fly United again, because of the security at Narita.

The flights themselves were just fine. I bring a couple of books to pass the time, so inflight entertainment is not a major consideration for me. From the male perspective the flights are not as enjoyable as the next two carriers, for reasons I will discuss in a bit. So, United Airlines is definitely okay, but not all that enjoyable. One other thing, the shops in 2003 were so much more interesting. I understand United move their facilities in NRT, too bad.

Eva Airways (Taipei) - I have had good experience with Eva the two times I have flown them. Staff is pleasant and pretty. It sure beats flying United Airlines in that regard. The in-flight entertainment has varied depending on the type of aircraft flown. I have had my own console (787), and community movies (747). Often times they have a very low price second only to China Airlines.

China Airlines (Taipei) - I was warned not to flight this airlines, because of their safety record. The price was too good to pass up, so I booked the ticket. I was not disappointed with service etc. This airline also has pretty in-flight staff. At one point I had a special need, so I summoned a stewardess, and she was very helpful. I would fly them again.

The Taipei airpot is gigantic. If you like walking down long empty corridors (I do), or just finding a place where you can be alone it is easy to do at this airport. The re-screening process has been painless, much like NRT was back in 2003. I haven't been to this aiport for a few years, so this might have changed.

I would like to fly Thai, but like my wife says, "Woow, expensive." I would like to fly through ICN, so I will probably book a trip on Asiana or Korean Air in the next few years if the price is right.

Korean air was so great for my last trip to Thailand (just me and the baby) LOVE the experience and all the help. They are very very helpful!!!!!

But hate the 4 night in NY stuck in a hotel near JFK. JFK suck so bad.. I travelled with baby and noone even care to ask if I need help to lift my luggage and stroller on to the x-ray WHILE I have to hold my baby also. Yea it's my choice to fly alone with the baby and I can manage just fine on my own but not even a peep? well, sorry I compaired them to RDU, Thai and Korea airport.

I had a flight on Korean Air awhile back that I forgot about - It was on a 747 combi -- not a bad experience, and not a good experience... just ho hummm... I suppose that's why I forgot about it ....

Anya- I flew Korea Air last time, and they were fantastic. Hands down the best international line i've flown. However, make sure you get on their biggest newer jets, as the small ones don't have individual screens and you have to watch Koh-lee variety shows the whole way. They were even delayed leaving by 6 hours and made another connection to bkk in incheon so we didn't have to stay the night.

PS. Congrats on the new one, na rak mak mak!

Thank you! I love my son very much!

I didnt realized Korean air still has planes that still have community screen? I flew the big one from Dallas to ICN and then the smaller one to BKK - then both smaller one the way back (one older than the other). All have individual screen, though the smaller one has a little less choice in movies but still tons!

I use this website frequently to check on seat options, amenities etc:

http://www.seatguru.com/

Can search by airline, aircraft, and flight number. Gives seat map with info on various seats, location of galleys, bathrooms, and exits. Also has info on audio/video, power ports, food, and infant services.

THanks for the website, that is great! I'll def use this again.

Yes, that was the case, and it was the Incheon to Dallas flight. Perhaps they've updated the plane? This was last year sometime when I flew. Another one that i've flown with the community screen is United to/from Narita. It's usually really affordable, but just community screens and the service is nothing compared to an asian airline.

Well, I was thinking more along the lines of a water fight in the backyard or park.

OT.......I see your timeline, similar to mine. Where in Thailand is your wife? My wife and son are about 30 minutes from Surin. Our wives will probably heading to BKK at the same time for interviews.
