Stay away from Lao Khao. I came back over a month ago, and I'm still hungover.

LOL talking about เหล้าขาว เหล้าดอง is quite good too - I have to track down the rice wine.. I tried it when I was in the university and I couldnt find it again.. it's really good.

I'm home - finally!!!

I like reading all these conversations

Regarding Sang Som - I tend to be very snobbish about my whiskey drinking habits. I'm primarily a single malt scotch kinda guy. I stock my liquor cabinet with Bowmore, Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Laphroaig - good peaty Islay malts. I also keep around some decent blends (Black Label, Famous Grouse), Canadian ryes and Jack for mixing with ice or soda, but I drink the malts neat. So, Sang Som is just not my idea of how I want to poison my liver.

But... on the last trip to Thailand in Sept, Thanti+me were in the islands, on Kho Phee Phee (sp? - I'll let you experts correct my Anglicized spelling of that Thai name).

When it comes to liquor, I only drink Rum, Vodka, and Tequila, but only when they are mixed. I'm a wimp, and don't really care for taste of alcohol, especially straight. As for Sang Som, it tastes more like Rum to me, so when I mix it with Coke, I feel like I’m drinking a regular Rum&Coke.

Since you asked for correction, it is Kho Phi Phi! ;)

Sorry you can’t get Chang where you live. They just started carrying it here. Before, I would have to drive to Orlando just to get Singha, but now there is an Asian store in Melbourne that carries both Chang and Singha, plus other Asian beers. Best part is, a 6-pack of Chang is only $8.00, and I consider that well worth the cost! :D:thumbs:

I agree with you about the SangSom+Coke == Rum&Coke .... that's exactly what it tasted like to me. But it had a kick like a mule the next morning :huh2:

Good tequilas can be very nice. We had some yesterday at the office (Yeah, I work in a very cool office. we do friday afternoon parties with pretty good Sh*t brought in by our CTO each week).

I'm also quite partial to Cuervo margaritas. Done the classic way, ice, lime, salt rim... I don't like frozen margaritas. If I wanted a slurpee I'd go to Seven-Eleven.

Draught beer at home... mmmmm..... maybe i'll get me one of those

I'm with you on the margaritas! Before I went down to Tijuana the first time, I used to thing margaritas only came as frozen drinks. In Tijuana, you were lucky to get 3 pieces of ice in one! After that, I won't drink a frozen margarita!

As for my beer machine, I bought it from Sears back in 1983 and love having it! When I was going to Texas A&M University, my home was very popular after the bars closed! It has certainly paid for itself, and I don't have to worry about extra trash (bottles or cans) or not having room for real food in the refrigerator! It also saves me a lot in the cost of beer!
