Thai Govt. blocks visa websites - among others

Those of you that got married in the US - Did Thai fiancé(e) put US address (where both will live) or Thailand address on the marriage license?

I called 311 and they said stateside address would be OK.

The service I got from 311 was actually much better than anticipated.

I had several general questions and they answered a few that I hadn't even asked but glad to hear the answer to. :thumbs:

We just got out marriage license today and used address here for both of us. I doubt it matters to be honest, though every state may be different. In Texas, she had to have her SSN before we could get the marriage license... meaning we have to go back again for the name change.

I think in other states, SSN is not required.

I think in other states, SSN is not required.

I called the 311 number to be sure and they were unexpectedly efficient.

No blood test is required in NY and the actual license form can be filled out online.

A personal appearance (of both parties) is required to actually pick it up where documentation is asked for.

(drivers license, passport, proof you are divorced but no need to show former marriage certificates)

I put the US address and they said that was OK.

I think having a wedding anniversary on Dec. 31 is way cool because if either one of us forgets it,

it could only be because of a lobotomy administered while asleep (or "it's New Year's Eve and I got drunk").

Neither of us are drinkers so not a problem.

We may have to get a "judicial waiver" which is permission to do the ceremony in less than 24 hours from the issue of the license.

There is NO SSN number requirement in NYC; I think many people get married here without any intention of working or remaining in the US.

We're getting married on Friday. We have the, seemingly common, 72 hour wait from getting the license in Texas. My fiance got her visa at the same time as a lady going to Florida and they've talked a few times since. Florida has no SSN requirement either. I thought the requirement was some illlegal alien thwarting or 9/11 security thing /shrug. The only took cash for the license too which was annoying but I guess they issue so many of them that checks/credit isn't worth the risk. 4 other couples came in while we were there and had lots of trouble filling out the simple 1-page form with sections for the man and woman. I bet the clerks there have a bunch of stories.

I hadn't even considered the date in terms of remembering for anniversaries... better write that down!

It's the educational visa that they offer through Thai language schools like Walen. I think it's 12 months

IC - The guy over there was talking about them cracking down on farang teachers who don't

try to learn Thai.

For my own experience, I've seen a LOT of a school in Thailand but almost never encountered

farang teachers, because I usually went there during school breaks when the Thai teachers

were called in for meetings from which the farang teachers were always absent. I may have

met one farang teacher in over a 6 year period where I spent more than 10 days each year

at the school.

The guy was from Pattaya/Jomtien - don't know if that had anything to do with it as that is

a primo "party" location and there might be a few just staying there on an "ED" visa scam of

their own, making it hard for the ones who are really teaching.

On the Thaivisa site there was a guy from the local Thai language school making all kinds of

claims that none of his students had ever been refused a visa.

- none that he knew about.

Yeah they have alot of sites over there that claim 100% success in all visas to the US. As you can see here that is not the case.

Yeah they have alot of sites over there that claim 100% success in all visas to the US. As you can see here that is not the case.

The visa he is talking about is the Visa for staying in Thailand and learning Thai, not for getting a Visa to the US.
