OK, so I leave town for three weeks and this thread goes 12 days without a post?!!!

Rin and I just got back to Memphis last night from SE Asia (Thailand and Singapore). Only took 27 hours door to door; better than last time! Early to bed last night, but up this morning at 5 am. Crash coming about 2 pm....

Welcome back! It's a real kicker of a trip, but none-the-less, I'm jealous. While you were gone the 'kids' had a successful adjustment of status interview, so we can relax for a while.

Congrats on the AOS. Can rest a year and a half then start lifting conditions (followed very shortly by citizenship)! We have two more years until we can apply for citizenship for Rin and the children.

The trip was our second this year for Rin and I (went for two weeks in March). Plan to go back next June with all the children for four or five weeks (although my daughters may only stay two due to work). It's been great having my daughters (20 and 22 y.o.) here to take care of Rin's children so that she is able to travel with me. Otherwise the trips would be much shorter!

My worst trip was 29 or so hours...best one was 21 (half hour to NY then 17 straight BUT the loong layover is what messed that dream up!

Congrats to Thaimom!

JUST got chewed out (LOL) "What are you DOING?" I said (as all guys respond) "WHAT?" (shrug)...."You are making noise; everyone's trying to sleep are you crazy?" I thought then discovered "It's the pine crackling in the fire...pine does that." Not knowing the word "pine" and "crackling" I got another "you're crazy, why are you making so much NOISE?" I gave up and said "sorry, I'll sit here and type quieter"!

Do you have your passport paperwork all filled out?! :innocent:

Chutima has her interview next week, but her 3 years is 18 Oct. I'm hoping for an Oath ceremony on the 23rd, if they do them on Fridays, as I read someone else did.

Almost done!

My fiancée is about to send in Packet 3, just sent her off everything for I-134 and our evidence. Nothing more I can do at this point... anyone else find themselves checking this board obsessively at this point in the process?

There is not even anything in particular I'm looking for!

Seems like the Bangkok embassy is scheduling interviews only 2 weeks or less from when they get Packet 3 at this point so it could be very soon! Waiting for NOA2 was strangely easier...

Chutima had her Naturalization interview today, and this is what happened:

We arrived 15 minutes early for the appointment, which was at 0830. First we went through security which was a pain in the butt. Worse than airport security! After that, was told to take the appointment letter to window 9 which was at the far end of the building in the corner. Waited for 20 minutes and a lady came out and called her name. Went back to her office where she introduced herself. She was nice but very professional. She went over the entire N-400 application form, including when and where each of us was born, our current address. When she got to how many times I've been married, wanted to see the divorce papers, which my wife gave her, and she went over very thoroughly. Then she asked if we were still married or separated, and what proof she had that we lived together. She showed her a utility bill I included, the warranty deed to our house, and a letter from my sister in AK addressed to both of us. She then went over every question on the form. After that she signed a piece of paper after raising her hand and swearing that all the information she gave was correct and true.

Then she was given the civics test and was asked the following questions:

What is one right or freedom from the First Amendment?

If the President can no longer serve, who becomes President?

Who signs bills to become laws?

What is one reason the colonists came to America?

During the Cold War, what was the main concern of the United States?

Why does the flag have 50 stars?

Then she was given the English test. She was handed a piece of paper with three sentences on it, which the IO had checked the second one and had her read aloud.

"Who is the father of our country?"

Then she was given another piece of paper and told to write:

"Washington is the father of our country."

She put a check on each paper and added them to our growing stack of paperwork.

After that she signed both her photos, and finally signed the two remaining areas on the N-400 application.

She was then given a N-652, Naturalization Interview Results form. The first box was checked saying she passed the tests, and the B) blank was checked saying “A decision cannot yet be made about your application.” and the IO wrote to the side “Not yet 3 yrs residence approvable on 10/19”. She said that they would mail her Oath Ceremony letter on or around 10/19. Had she already met the 3 yrs residency, they would have had her wait a little longer in the waiting area and given her the Oath Ceremony letter, as I saw them doing with other individuals.

All in all, very painless. I think I was more nervous than my wife was! Will wait for the letter and go back for the Oath Ceremony in the same building.
