One step closer to ending this god forsaken journey:

Got the interview letter today! Oct 7 in Orlando!

OMG I havnt notice!! GRATZ Robert, just about a week after me  Durham normally gives the Oath letter after the interview and it's been very quick so I really hope I'll be tanking the Oath within this month

Thanks Anya, and of course congrats to you too!

I have read the reviews of the new Orlando USCIS office, and almost all the reviews have been very positive. One person had their interview last month and they received their oath letter after the interview, for an oath ceremony 3 days later!!! So I'm hoping the same thing will be true. They also told them to bring $200 cash, and they could apply for their passport right after the ceremony, which they did. They even gave them a copy of the certificate since the original has to be sent in with the passport application. They got the passport 10 days later and the certificate 1 day later. :D

So it looks like it should be good for both of us! :innocent:

Yeah, I hear ya! The Orlando office is so new, it doesn't even show up on any of the satellite views!!! LOL

The people who've been there say it is very nice and everyone very friendly. The place we had to go to for biometrics was on the back side of a strip mall, in a not to nice location. The security gaurd was always super friendly and very helpfull though.

Its great your in-laws will be able to attend your Oath ceremony.

That sounds great! In my opinion, high immigrant concentration areas seem to have it down to a science. For example LA has a Thai drivers permit test...and Chinese, Spanish, on and on. In MD they have....English.

You're at the home stretch! Congratulations and best to both of you!

It is great they have them in the other languages, but they don't provide study materials in the other languages, so it really does no good, unless they have learned the to drive anyways.

In Nevada they are allowed to bring in a dictionary with them to translate if they don't speak english or spanish. They used to be allowed translators, but I am sure we all know what happened when they did that.

Also they need to learn english anyways, because during the regular driving test, I highly doubt they are going to get a Thai Instructor.

Thanks for the congratulations, but I really wonder what you mean by "high immigrant concentration areas"?

I wouldn't classify Orlando as a "high immigrant concentration area", and they certainly don't provide any study literature in any thing other than English. In Florida, either you speak English, or you don't.

Yep. And I found out late this week that I have to leave Memphis at 6 am Tuesday morning to go to Savannah for a meeting. Since I'll be waking up at 3 to 4 am anyway, won't be a problem! Although since it takes about a week before my mind catches up with my body on the return from Asia, I'll probably not remember much about the meetings!

I worked for a US based company in Bangkok. They liked to have these "all hands" meetings every 6 months. The meeting lasted 2 days. 1 day to get to D.C., 2 day meeting, 1 day to get back. That used to really screw with my sleep. Guess they never heard of teleconference.
