AAm jumps out of her skin if she sees a snake...

As of today, I've sent in my removal of conditions paperwork...all 10000000 pages

We're back in the loving arms of the USCIS....

Peace!

MarkNAam

 You think you have enough?! ;)

Good luck with the next part of your journey!

Brother Roi,

Ya, I think it is definitely overkill...will USCIS think it is enough...I'd be willing to bet that we get called in for an interview...for some reason I think the COs just like checking out my beautiful wife :angry::angry:

Thanks for the well wishes Brother...

Brother Mark,

I think you hit the nail on the head! ;)

We didn't get interviews for either AOS or Removing Conditions, so we were definitely lucky. I hope you have the same fortune!

Congrats on the NOA1! At least now, you know the 'ball is rolling'...even though it might be rolling quite slowly....

NOA1->NOA2 was the tuffest part of the K1 for me. It just seems like nothing is happening during that time, so it becomes quite boring <haha>...

I think our NOA1->2 was only about 2 months though, so I guess we were lucky by comparison...

Peace Brother!

Thanks Mark,

This is the first hurdle & you're right, the next one is the hardest.

I've seen some who got their NOA1 in a day but ended up with an RFE,

so "past performance is no indication of future results." Only time will tell.

Now if I can "channel" the new Japan PM's wife...

Do you know if getting a visa for Venus is this hard?

Best wishes,

I don't know for sure if the Japanese relish this kind of publicity for their fearless leader as the "gaijin" do,

but I remember a comedy LP back when JFK was first elected called the "First Family."

The voice-actress playing Jackie was giving a tour of the White House and she said something in her shtick like

"And this is the Blue Room and we decided to leave it exactly as it was during President Blue's time in office."

OK, my elderly mother in law is without a decent man who is able to protect her and a neighbor boy has been coming to her house and harassing her over and over. "You're poor, you don' thave enough money for food..." and on and on. Since I came along the taunt is "Your daugher is a ####### with a farang husband and you don't have shinola..."

One time she responded unkindly and he threatened to kill her so they called the police and the police took down his name. This latest incident he went over this morning where the (likely yabaa taking punk) had his finger wagging in her face and she tried not to respond and ended up responding. 3 months ago, the poor old lady out of desperation mooned him and he ran away. She said "look at this old lady #######, imprint it in your mind and never forget it next time you come over" (I got a kick out of that one).

My wife wants to call the police and send some money (she says 500b...I say a few grand to make sure he remembers it)...some ####### kicking money to rough him up and shut him up. I guess paid protection. Anyone familiar with paying the police for an ####### whoopin? Here that's highly illegal but she's asking her family to call the police and she's entertaining the idea to get him to stay off their property. I think he comes over when he's high. I also think he's the rice thief (responsible for my forking out about a grand US to build a new rice house with a lock).

I'm open to any suggestions. I suggested they buy a gun but...i don't' want them coming back killing my extended family. It's mainly kids and women there now....just don't know what to do and if a contract ####### whoopin is in order, would there be any backlash. I'm concerned about this but her family is about 6 months past their wits end (and Thais are more patient than we are). I told her that ####### ever happened to me, a molotov house party would be in order and they'd be gone but that's here and there is there.

What do y'all think?

we went to a Thai restaurant at her request (for dinner ideas) but the server had the personality of a doorknob. She didn't talk to him at all since he was BKK Thai and made no efforts to speak Thai when I did. He didn't seem to be happy about working there but this place imports their workers in a student visa then pays $3.50 an hour making them repay the plane ticket and who knows what else. Cheap labor since they stay for several years this way.

We ate some egg rolls and left. She's still looking for Thais. We'll try elsewhere later on....

Hey Hyena...try Sala Thai on U street in DC. Its great...but mainly students as well. Ask to talk to one of the chefs named Kuhn Toom. She is a friend of ours. I'm sure she'd talk Thai with your wife

Good news is that they have Singha there!

Peace,

Mark

Thanks Mark! We do need a break at some point so I'll keep that in mind.

Hey, I logged on to Visa4thai and asked for Baltimore area Thais...and someone from her home town responded (Roi Et). She was all excited but her mom said "Trust no one" and I kept telling her what could they possibly "do" to you? In Thailand I know if something goes wrong (failure to loan money if perceived rich, even)...anything and it could cost some extended extended family member (6 degrees of separation) his job or a loan, etc. I've heard of second cousins being fired, not being hired because some remote relative did something to some uncles's cousin's ex dog. Based on how long people live in old areas, I see how the Thai Hatfields and McCoy's can start given centuries living in the same places...only a matter of time then they start keeping score.

so now she's paranoid and did an about face after speaking with this Thai (Lutherville) on the phone and I thought she was OK!

...after this neighbor has been harrasing the hell out of the family and they're desperate for peace and to keep him off their land and out of their house...her mom says not to make friends Thai so she's listening now. UGH! Thai social politics stinks!

Has anyone ever sat down and estimated how much the 5 year visa journey costs in $USD to reach the pinnacle of Citizenship? Maybe impossible to quantify!

Oh lord... it is DEFINITELY NOT CHEAP!!!

The N-400 was another $675 and a new US Passport costs $100.

The I-751 is cheap at only $545.

The AOS process is now $1010, and the K-1 is $140 plus $100 for the consulate.

Then there is sin sod, airfare, medical exams, vaccinations, phone bills, and driving lessons.

The other costs you would occur regardless, such as wedding costs and honeymoon, so they really can't be factored in.

It would definitely be interesting to come up with an itemized bill.

Hey Brother Roi!

Great news about the interview coming up...man...hard to believe you've invested ~ half a decade in this process  AAm wants to naturalize as well...so once we're ROC'd...I'm sure we'll also be right behind you...

As far as itemizing the total bill for all this immigration Schmack...I gave up trying to figure that...and have concluded, that it will just take every penny you have...

However, my wife is now living and working in the USA...so its great...cuz she can now definitely help to foot her own bill <haha>
