I believe I had already been a Southeast Asian in a prior incarnation. While there, everything felt so familiar and comfortable; eating rice three meals a day, squatting and using a bucket of water for my ablutions, lots of short dark haired folk.

Yes, I am considering coming back as Thai next time.

I'm Catholic, so we don't believe necessarily in reincarnation...instead we've got our own term for it which we call 'Purgatory'. No one knows what Purgatory will be like, it is just a 'cleansing' before one enters heaven. But, in fact this cleansing could be accomplished through another life on this earth for all that we know! If that is the case, I also hope that my time in Purgatory will be spent in Thailand, if not Thailand, then India. Unlike DaBoyz though, I'd like to be poor...salt of the earth style-of-living...

In other news, my fiancée bought her father, who is a farmer in the North, over 500 teak saplings to plant on his land. Dad has gotten the rest of the village interested in his enterprise and they are ordering over 1,000 more to be planted. My fiancée is charging them 50 Satong per saplings to deliver them: She is always looking for ways to make a few extra Baht. I would like for Dad to get into growing organic coffee, which we could sell in Chiang Mai and Bangkok, perhaps even export abroad if we got the rest of the village involved.

Anyone else get into the family business? Perhaps years from now if we decide to live in Thailand, we could create a few small businesses using the family's land which has very rich soil.

I recently purchased, through family, 70 Rai near Kalasin. Still trying to decide what to plant. Whether to grow a long term crop, such as trees, or stick with sugar cane.

Any of you ever bring a dog from Thailand to USA? I've already researched the procedure and it's quite straightfoward, but would like to hear some other anecdotes.

My fiancée has a pomapoo (pomeranian and poodle mix) that she adores and intends to bring with her.

We really need to get a lot of the non visa/embassy related questions posted in this thread, instead of the K-1 thread, but I think too many people are just used to using the K-1 thread, or don't necessarily know about this thread.

I appreciate the intention and logic behind this thread, but I rather appreciate keeping it all in the K-1 section. Though there has been off-topic chatter in Sawasdee, of late it's been keeping track of the embassy, requirements, suggestions, reviews of interviews, etc. Several members did not enjoy going back and forth between the two conversations.

Sometimes I do get a bit indignant seeing all the Vietnam chatter in this sub-forum with hardly a peep from the Thai folks.

However you are quite right, that the K-1 forum is the wrong place. It belongs here in the regional forums.

Hence I suggested that we close Sawasdee 3 and Thailand, and start a new thread (my preference would be Sawasdee-4) here in the regional section.

And I would ask Ewok to pin it, it really does deserve to be pinned.
