- The King, for the first time didn't intervene

I posted the King's rights a while ago.. and no the King didnt intervene other protests until it gets ugly and he came out to warn them.. so this is normal.

and the Princess initiated paying for hotels for protesters and stranded tourists alike. THis helped the business in BKK in a big way, calmed the tourists down and gave room and board for protesters.

...which princess? and the red shirt was doing the same

-Regarding this color of shirt for each day of the week; sounds like a BKK fad to me. Isaan loved the king and the family a whole lot but they felt abandoned with this latest yellow shirt airport stunt just as the economy was coming to a screeching halt, they closed all the airports and it crippled many businesses.

Yea yea - for over 40 years he tried to help them - it's all gone coz the other guy came to give them money.. yea..

My wife was also telling me of Thakisins other stunts and other things that angered the Northern people. Apparently Thaksin paid off Thai debt with his own money with promise of Thailand to repay him then some stunt was done to leave him with no money, no repayment as promised. not his own money - and you know what? he even promote the King's project as his own too..

Don't forget I'm agreeing he's a downright crook.

good

especially when they were on the news saying Isaan people shouldn't be allowed to vote because they're so stupid, uneducated and there should be an education requirement to vote.

-source?- other than your wife?

My wife had to leave home at 12 to work in a sweat shop because they had no food (not a little food, NO food) -sorry to hear this

On top of that, the current president said to kill em all.

THat REALLY pissed off the red shirts because nothing but support was given to the yellows but you've got a president saying "you will suffer no recourse if you kill the protestors". Apparently this was before things got out of control. My wife said a true Thai president would typically try to calm both sides and bring about peace. Never before has a president said to kill em all (he really said this...on the news). The red shirts said "Oh you want violence, we'll show you violence" then it got way out of control.

again - source? if he said that then the yellow shirt wouldnt stand for it either.. you know they didnt like the governement.. they just giving him a chance.. the incident in Pattaya.. they grilled him so bad... I was there too and I never heard he said that.. which TV are you saying.. heard from his mouth or from the red shirt's leader? He cant say kill them all one day and the next say no force against protester. Aphisit is not stupid like the other 2 PM.. may be she still has the image of Somchai (Thaksin's brother in law who used force against the yellow shirt) and mixed up the two.

If you put yourself in their shoes, Thaksin, no matter how evil is all they've got. Yellows win and get their paws in the constitution and isaan may lose their vote and any poor people's benefits to give them a leg up on equality. it's far more complicated but that's the jist of it. They've fighting for equal opportunity and equal rights and trying to hang on to voting and political rights. It's not like the legislature is filled with equal representation and equal weighted votes there. They really have no representation and the alternative to their crook is worse.

really? what's worse than throwing a change to one group of people and robbed the country blind? I dont know if i could find again the vedio of the vote counting.. they literally throw away the ballot of other people and count only the one with Thaksin's party on it.. it's candid vedio..

I did have 3 seats to myself on Korean, though. Flight over stank because they kept waking me up to put my seat up every time they serve drinks (all the other airlines know the tray tables don't move when a seat is moved) but this one stewardess seemed to be a control freak. The return trip was completely different and the staff were a lot nicer.

I just flew with them back. I notice the same thing but some how their food tray tilted a bit when you lean your seat back. and it gives the person in the back a very little space to eat. I didnt mind doing it coz it means I can eat quite comfortably. I like Korean air's food very much too :)

Probably because Sam Miguel Light is an Awesome beer, drink as much as you want and never wake up with a hang over!

"Sam" Miguel Light?! :unsure::P:lol:

When I was in PI, they didn't have such a beer! I did notice that they sell San Miguel in many Asian countries, but I still prefer either Singha or Chang. To me, Singha is the light beer, and Chang gives me the taste I enjoy.

I learned the hard way however, don't drink draught beer in Thailand! I finally realized that every time I drank draft beer there, my stomach went into a tizzy!!! :dead:

So after all that talk about red shirts and yellow shirts on the streets of Bangkok, here's a totally different take on the subject of "red shirts".

This is from a relatively recent tradition in Canada. Canadian servicemen killed in action in Afghanistan are being flown back to Trenton AFB approximately 2 hours east of Toronto. The caskets are then loaded onto hearses for the drive to Toronto for burial. That section of Highway 401 has been renamed the "Highway of Heroes". At every highway overpass (approximately 40 of them) people line the highway to honour the passing warriors.

Here are "red shirts" in the streets, Canadian style:

Here is an arriving casket at Trenton:

The entire slideshow is here: Highway of Heroes

I actually prefer Beer Lao now widely available in Bangkok. Agree that Singha is pretty light, but obviously not light enough for some as they started selling Singha Light a few years back...

You guys are superb private investigators! Smoked out a troll/spy in a matter of minutes! LOL!

I agree with you all (preaching to the choir) there's something to a Thai woman, I agree. Just don't get em angry, they may get spicy on you! LOL! Every culture is different. I've worked with many, many pinay in the US and that culture is NOT my cup of tea, has already been tainted by too much western bad. I, too prefer the classy Thai over all else (given the hurdles any cultural marriage would obviously have). Pinay in general have weak chins (don' task me why but I noticed this)...I like Thai characteristics...like a Maserati! Nothing nicer than a Thai woman dressed to the 9's (even when they don't try)!

Land of Smiles!

(now if they could stop throwing trash and plastic everywhere)...it would be paradise!

I agree with you for once. Don't pi$$ them off. They have a very high tolerance for BS. If you reach that level, be careful, because you might be starring in a movie with John Wayne Bobbit.

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!
