This morning I checked Case Status to see if they finally had my case in the system. I logged in and it showed Post Decision Activity. Our I129f was approved. I really feel so blessed. Keep the faith my friends. I pray everyone has such a smooth process. The crazy thing is.....Edouardo doesn't believe me. He lives in DR where they experience many power outages so he has no internet access. I hope he can check soon and know Im not playing a bad trick on him.

I know he wants to believe me, but wants to see it with his own eyes. He never expected it to happen so fast.

Congratulation  and WOW you just approve in 16days??? wow just wondering why are you a government worker? what is the basis to approve just short period of time?? I am just curious.

Nope, juat a regular old girl from Denver, CO. My fiancee is from Haiti, but still I know a few Haiti cases that are still waiting, so there is no rhyme or reason to it. I didnt ever email or call them and I didnt ask for an expedite. I guess my papers got to the right person at the right time.

Yes, your approval happened incredibly fast, but as Haitian petitions are expedited, it is not as surprising. I hope my following thought does not offend you (or any other petitioners with Haitian beneficiaries), but I think it unfair that Haitians would get their petitions expedited, yet Dominican petitions are not. I think it unfair because of mainly two reasons: since Haiti and the Dominican Republic are the same island (Hispaniola), what affects one country affects the other. For instance, the cholera has now spread to some areas of the DR. Also, the Haitian migration to the DR has put added stress on already precarious resources and economic opportunities.

My hope is that all of us going through this process find the patience (and money) to endure this process and maintain our long distance relationships. (F)

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

March 18, 2011 - POE together. JFK and O'Hare airports. Legal wedding: May 16, 2011.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.

I could barely breathe!!! I had to look my number up 3 times before I was sure it was the right one. We didnt receive email or text though. Everyone in the room, including my finace watching on Skype, was looking at me like I was crazy. I couldnt get full sentences out of my mouth, I was shaking, feeling to cry!!! I was a mess. LOL. I told Edo to go check USCIS page and he was on his way to check when his power shut off. Hes still at work now thinking we just have a TOUCH, when I kept telling him its not!

I actually agree. I waited several hours to tell my Jan 2011 Filers group about the news, because I really do feel bad. There are many countries that are war torn, effected by natural disaster, poverty and disease. I dont know why they chose Haiti over any other country. I think the way USCIS works is terrible and petitions should be approved in order. At least everyone could trust that what they say is the truth even if it is a long wait, you know whats coming next.

It was very nice of you to say that. You got approved early and I'm happy for you. But the fact that you feel for all the others who have waited for so long shows a lot character. I hope the rest of your journey goes quickly also.
