Hi,

In the form required to be filled out to obtain the PCC from the passport office, my wife has to put in "husband's name and address if married, otherwise father's name". Obviously she should put down my name because we are married (hence the K3 petition). But, in this case, is that the right thing to do (meaning, is the PCC going to MUCH longer because they have a US address for my). Maybe I am just getting paranoid  The PCC from the police station was so much easier.

For the K3 people who's wives got the PCC from the passport office, what did your wives put down? Your name or their dad's name?

Help!!! :help:

Thanks,

KP

I guess it should not be an issue with you as husband becoz it must be pretty common to have the other spouse staying out of country....And they already know that her husband is abroad by looking at the reason she must hve provided....Just my two cents..

My husband is having trouble with the police certificate :-( and hasn't even looked at passport thing yet !

Best of luck !

KP,

I just talked to my wife; she doesn’t remember what she had put down. I am quite sure she would have put down my address since she had her passport changed to show her married name and Indian passports have husband’s name in it as well.

Mention of an address in US should not cause any delays or put the process in a longer loop – it is obvious why one is requesting a PCC and PCC is given for a particular country, in this case her passport will get a stamp saying PCC given for USA. My understanding is that the PCC from passport office is given based on the police report. If your wife had her passport issued recently and required a police report, as most do, she should be able to get PCC from passport office fairly quickly.

Then, if your wife is going to have it ‘expedited’ it may not matter anyway.

Hey,

I would suggest putting down the husband's name, since in India, the husband's name is required if the lady is married. That piece of information is only a formality and there shouldn't be any delay since they will not be really checking up on you or anything, but if you put in the father's name they will question that since a married woman needs to put in the husband's name and it is apparent she is married.

Timesnap, may I ask what problems you are facing with your police certificate?

well actually my husbby went to police station and explained eveything. They sent him to another police station in Gurgaon. There they explained that the guy will come to my husband's house to enquire and did not show up :-( Now they are just saying that his file is stuck. My husband has offered them money but they have not taken it yet and they are just making him go around in circles.....M very worried now as not much time is left and I am very very worried.....

About passport, they are saying that they do not issue clearnace for passports issued before 5 years. ...and he will hv to go to Delhi and they will set a new inquiry ..I am confused as to what to do. I know he should have enquired about all these things earlier but i am not sure what to do now....

Thanks for all the suggestions -- I will ask her to out down my name as the "worse-half". :P

KP

Timesnap -- I have not been through this but may I suggest that your husband go and talk to a passport officer? Ask him to tell the passport officer that "I have a problem and I need to get it resolved -- what do I need to do to get it resolved".

Regarding the police clearance -- I think he will have to offer that bribe again and then ask him "is this not good enough?" I suspect that the money is not enough.

These bast**ds like to see honest people grovel and think that in that moment when the other person is weak, they rule the world. It's sick. I am sorry to hear that you guys are going through it.

What's the saying -- don't get mad, get even? No worries timesnap -- things wil pan out. My wife is going to Chandigarh as I tap this out in an effort to get the passport office clearance -- let's see which a** she encounters out there and how much she has to bribe them to get this done in a few days.

I too wish I was in India :(

OK, my wife is having some real problems at the passport office in Chandigarh -- she went there to get a PCC, they took her passport and the form and AFTER that said that it would take 15-20 days to get it back and that it would be mailed to her. Did I not hear someone say that it took them a week and they got the passport in person? This is really frustrating... if it indeed takes 20 days, then she will miss her interview date.

Experiences, anyone?

Thanks,

KP

Hi kp,

I am pretty sure they should be able to do so much earlier. As usual, the authorities jsut give vague dates to stretch the time they would ahve to do the needful, especially for honest people who go through proper channels. I suggest that your wife take someone there who knows the ropes of getting after the people in-charge, finding out the right "contact" and greasing their palm.

I am not personally aware of anyone who is going through the Chandigarh office, but you might want to check with timesnap whose husnad is getting the same done in Delhi

Delhiguy is right kpathak.

My husband went to gaziabad passport office and was turned down becuase his pasport was 5 years old and they said they dont have rcords and it will take them a month to conduct new verification. He got hold of an agent yesterday and it took 1500-2000 rupees plus whole day of standing in sun to get it done. The agent got it done..Someone there said that officers at passport office will not even take money directly from applicants for fear of being caught they will only deal with agents ..may be she can contact some agent there to get it done....I hope it gets resolved for you Let me know if you need to talk to my husband ...

and If you need anything, you or your wife can always call my fiance since he got his clearance from chandigarh as well. and He is good at arguing with those bast--ds. :P
