my mom slapped me on the face once over something i said when i was about age 7. she must have been in a bad mood, because she never did it before or after. when she did it, my dad was there, he immediately jumped up from his chair in the kitchen, pointed his finger at my mom and said "don't you ever slap any on our kids in the face again" then he added "slap them on the butt, but never on the face." i'm not sure why he thought a face slap was so bad, but what he did that day taught me something.

good patchouli smells amazing. cheap stuff, not so much. some of my favorite perfumes have it, and it works great combined with other scents. it's not an animalic though, it's plant derived.

as a 7 year old kid, you don't really know anything about abuse unless you are getting seriously abused - the way your parents treat you is just matter of fact in the mind of a kid. at 7 before that incident happened, i didn't know there was a difference between a slap on the face and a slap on the butt (call it a spanking). it just showed me that some forms of punishment were beyond acceptable while others were.

as a kid, i was rarely physically touched as a means of punishment, but instead restricted to stay inside while my brothers could go outside to play. it was tough punishment watching them and all the other kids outside as i rested my arms on the window seal and my nose up against that window's glass. no PS3 in those days and the only thing on TV was "i love lucy."
