Hi gang, so I just received an email from the NVC stating that they received my AOS and they're still waiting for my IV packet.

I had sent both the AOS and IV the same day in individual packets, so I'm guessing this is an automatic computer generated response... right?

Yup, don't worry about it. As soon as they receive a package, they tend to send out a false RFE saying a package is missing. One package will always get to a reviewing officer faster than another. Just ignore the email :)

Glad your mom arrived safely and without problems!

And yay for VJ for saving you money! Of course, if you want to give me a small percent of the money you saved from not having a lawyer, I wouldn't say no! laughing.giflaughing.gif

Thanks again for the reassurance!

After repeatedly having been hosed by the "boilerplate" USCIS emails from a few months ago, I'm not sure what to make of these automated responses and feel compelled to come here for reassurance

Goooood morning my VJ fam and fellow leftovers... so I tried to sign in to the NVC payment portal and I got a sign-in failure.

I phoned the NVC and the operator I spoke with said my case is under "final review".

Any suggestions as to what steps I should take next? *ahem*Saylin*ahem*

Hehe, Saylin is here :)

The only thing you can keep doing is calling the AVR whenever possible to see if they update saying your case is complete. I'm guessing that because you got your SIF today, that your AVR will change tomorrow or the day after. And of course, keep calling the NVC operators once a day to ask if your case is complete.

You're almost there, you should have a case complete real soon. And then you're in queue for an interview date to be scheduled :)

for us it went like this

sif on web page

2 days later case closed phone message

3 days later email with interview date

1 week later (aprox) phone message changes to case mailed to consulate

start tracking on dhl using these directions from this wiki --

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/How_Do_I_Bring_My_Spouse_%28Husband_or_Wife%29_to_Live_in_the_United_States%3F#Step_0_-_Preparing_For_The_NVC_Process

How to track your valuable originals?

Listen to NVC's AVR message, it will clearly say “Your case is completed and forwarded to the embassy or consulate in XXX on MM/DD/YYYY…” Once you hear this message, immediately go to DHL Tracking by Reference and track your shipment.

For example, if NVC's AVR says your shipment date is 06/05/2008, NVC actually called DHL one day before this date to pick up the shipment. So your reference date is 06/04/2008 ( though mine was same date as AVR message ). Then enter EXP 04 JUN 2008A as your reference in the above DHL website. Then scroll down to your consulate link.

To be sure you can try a date range between 06/03/2008 to 06/06/2008 in the date range

once its delivered give them a few days then you can contact the consulate about case....we are asking for faster interview date as sydney isnt that busy..

Thanks SO much for the details above!

Once we have an interview date, I'll try phoning the embassy as well and see if we can somehow be moved up. My understanding is that currently it's taking an average of 50 days to get an interview in Mumbai

Thanks again for the info, and best wishes to you and your loved ones :)
