Sooo I figured I'd go ahead and start this thread for all of us [former] TSC hostages waiting for our NVC case #s! So far there's only been one of us that has gotten to NVC.

As for me, I spoke to an operator on 1/24/11 and she told me to wait 15 business days for the case to be received and entered in the system (that'd be around 2/4/11). So that's what's going on with me.

Hi, call them everyday. When my case went to NVC, I waited about five days, called and asked for the case number. The operator wouldn't give me the Invoice ID number so I hung up, called again and told the second operator that I was previously given the number but misplaced it. Send in the choice of agent form by email and you can bug them as much as you like. Unlike the USCIS, you can actually try to get some info. Lastly, make sure all those forms that you will send with the DS-230 packet is complete. I got an RFE. They said we didn't send an original birth certificate. I said that they have two "certified" copies and that should be sufficient enough. They still said no. That little hick up cost me at least an extra month. Every body that had their files sent to NVC the same time I did are already doing interviews. Good Luck.

I'm going to start lurking on this thread so I know what I have to look forward to when I'm approved (I'm just a masochist like that). By the way, I spoke to a caseworker in my congresswoman's office today. She said that a month's delay in processing time would be normal following a transfer (especially given the holidays), but I also told her about how the people who did get approved still haven't gotten their NVC case numbers even after two months, and she said that that could be a legitimate reason for an inquiry. So hopefully she will be able to get some insight into that.

Good luck to you all in getting your case numbers and moving through NVC quickly! I hope to be joining this club soon!

Hi, Dan! Are they *still* telling you that your case needs additional review??? That makes me nervous for the rest of us!

Yay, Skynaut!

If you don't have a case # within 15 business days from your I-797C approval notice, NVC will tell you to send them a copy as an attachment to an email to nvcresearch@state.gov. After I sent NVC a copy of my NOA2, I called USCIS, and they sent me a letter stating that my case had been "ordered approved in November, BUT was still being processed, and that a request had been sent to the adjudicator to finish processing my case." Still waiting on TSC to forward my case to the NVC. All I can do is wait at this point.

NATURALIZATION

02/25/2014 - Eligibility date.

03/03/2014 - N-400 package mailed.

03/11/2014 - Check cashed.

03/14/2014 - NOA received.

04/09/2014 - Biometrics.

04/28/2014 - In-Line for Interview - 6 hours later Interview Scheduled!!

05/02/2014 - Interview Letter received. (Mailed on 29 April)

05/26/2014 - 3 year anniversary.

06/02/2014 - Interview. PASSED!

09/11/2014 - Oath Ceremony.

09/16/2014 - Updated driver licence and registered to vote.

10/08/2014 - Updated Social Security

10/14/2014 - Applied for U.S. Passport

10/27/2014 - U.S. Passport arrived in mail (13 days - DID NOT expedite)

10/30/2014 - Naturalization Certificate arrived in mail (was not folded)

MY IMMIGRATION JOURNEY IS OFFICIALLY FINISHED!!

What's that? No NVC number yet? HAH HAH!

When I call NVC and the automated voice says, "We have no record of your case #," I die a little inside.

Dan, have you had any congressional assistance with your case (before approval and/or after)?

Thanks, Jennie! I think we will all be at the NVC at the same time! We got each other's backs :)

Sam,

Sam, thanks for the info. Regarding the birth certificate, I have my husband's original certificate but he had a new one created to get his military record. The new one looks nicer (25 years takes a toll on a piece of paper lol) so I am planning to use the second one. Do you think that's ok or should I use the original one?

From the NVC website:

You (and any family members immigrating with you to the United States) must obtain an original birth certificate issued by the official custodian of birth records in your country of birth, showing your date of birth, place of birth, and parentage.

Hi all - Wanted to say hi as well. Got my NOA2 on Jan 21st after 6.5 months of waiting... CSC/TSC. For those who have their NVC case numbers, did you call to get it, or did you get a snail mail with it? I'm planning to call bc I know we need to be proactive, but was just curious if one were not to call to follow up, how is that info communicated - email or snail mail? Thanks!

Jill
