Hey everybody! I haven't been around for a while because I've been busy with work, etc., but I've mostly caught up on this thread and the March NVC thread. Congratulations to Saylin for her CC!

I sent out my IV and AOS packets together on March 7 and they were delivered on March 9 (side note: I would recommend using the USPS Priority Mail flat rate envelope... it's only $4.95, so you save a fair chunk of change as opposed to Express Mail, it only takes one day longer, and you can get free delivery confirmation if you pay online). I guess now I just have to wait for my SIF and hope for a CC soon! It looks like I'll have to wait about two weeks from when the package was delivered, right?

I just got this email response after I requested an expedite:

Dear Sir/Madam:

Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC). The NVC has completed its processing of the visa petition you mentioned in your letter and has forwarded the petition to the assigned US Embassy/Consulate General for further processing.

Please be advised that further forms and/or fees may still be requested by the US Embassy/Consulate to complete the processing of this case. Any further inquiries should be directed to the assigned US Embassy or Consulate General.

Sincerely,

Sam

I have no idea if this means the expedite was granted or not...now I am just confused.

Yeah, it's not too clear if they actually approved the expedite or if you were already done with NVC and on your way by the time they sent this... but either way, you're on your way to the consulate, and that's great news!

yeah, the thing is...I never sent any documents to NVC. I just paid all the fees, and requested an expedite about a week ago...and now when I called NVC, they said it was shipped to Bogota for further processing. Im happy, but at the same time, a little mad at myself for not waiting longer because I just sent all the documents to my mom so she could ship them out for me (Im living abroad with my wife). I also was planning on moving back to California before the interview, but now I am pretty clueless on what Im going to do.

I sent them both together overnight 3/9, and the USPS confirmation saids that it was received on 3/10/11 @ 11:25AM.... I'm new to the lingo, what's the AVR?

If you sent them on 3/9, then you should get a CC in another week or so, if no RFE.

Yes, I believe that means your expedite was approved and that all documentation has been sent to the Embassy abroad.

Once the case arrives at the embassy, I believe they'll then send you packets to fill out (AOS and IV). Either you mail it to them or you bring it with you to the interview. I'm not completely sure how the process goes after you get an expedite granted at NVC. I'm sure you'll be hearing soon from the Embassy on your next step. Since the expedite was approved, you may want to stay abroad until your wife's interview and then move with her back to the USA. Sucks you already sent the documents to your mom already and paid for that and now they just have to be sent back to you.

I suppose $30 isn't TOO bad. I've seen other people pay insane prices to ship international. If only you had waited one more day, lol :P

I'm hoping to get my interview date this week! Someone else from Canada with a CC one day before me just got an interview date assigned today, so I should be next! :)

If you don't mind sharing, what was the basis of your expedite? I just sent an email to Supervisor Sue last night requesting an expedite as well.

WOOHOOO !!!! That's awesome.  You are well on your way. Do you already have all the documents needed for your AOS and IV packets? Don't be like us (my wife and me). We waited too long to gather everything... and now.... WE are holding up the process.

Yes, very very happy to be at NVC and see things moving along. I do have everything ready. (it's been ready for over a month actually). The only thing I'm short is the police certificate because my husband was told (by the local police station in India)that he has to have a letter asking for it before they give it to him. So that's whats going to hold me up!
