You're welcome.

Hehe, thanks. A lot of people have been saying that lately laughing.gif But, unfortunately, the town my husband lives in is super tiny (only 25k people) with no law school, thus I wouldn't be able to become an immigration lawyer. It would be pretty cool though being an immigration lawyer!

Just don't end up one like this:

http://www.ocregister.com/news/immigration-291586-attorneys-initiative.html

The reported of that story is the one that interviewed me. I got a text from her today saying she was on vacation, the article should be in print and online next week.................yeah, right. I've heard that before.

Just checked if the US Consulate Montreal has a Facebook page. Nope. There is a US Embassy Ottawa page, but no one goes through that in Canada for immigrant visas. Oh well!

blink.gif I definitely wouldn't want to be a fake immigration attorney. I'd make sure I was qualified first :P Although, unless my husband moves, I won't be able to. So, I'll just stick with helping here on VJ :D

Wow, that story hasn't been printed yet? Jeez...

Either or. If you write in pen, make sure it doesn't leak through to the front. I used pen and just wrote very lightly.

I read somewhere that you're supposed to use a permanent marker like a Sharpie.

I'm just crushed. I called AVR this morning and I'm "missing" documents. Talked to the operator and supposedly she thinks that the marriage certificate is not a certified copy. IT IS! Im 100% sure of it. The marriage certificate is handwritten from a town of 1000 people and I told her that it doesn't look official but it is. She said they haven't reviewed my case all the way so it might not even be that. I feel so upset.

I called 2 more officers. The last one being the nicest the 2nd one being the meanest, her name was Sarah (go figure). Jay, the last girl said she was so sorry. I cried to her telling her I'm looking at the photocopy of what I sent in to them and how it IS the original certified copy and that I'm sure of what my marriage certificate looks like. She said she can't see what I'm talking about and can only put in a service request to have a document reviewer look at my file. She told me I should wait until I get the letter from the NVC (hahaha I haven't even officially received an RFE) but if I want I can send in a new (the f*cking same) marriage certificate today if I want and it wont delay my case. It just turned 6am and I've already talked to three NVC customer service reps. I'm glad I didn't let Sarah discourage me because Jay was awesome (and sounded like she was 17 she kept saying the word like). Gonna send in the RFE marriage certificates today. They'll get them by tomorrow and input them in two weeks. :bonk:

Also Sarah told me that I could write a letter stating that this IS the document and the only version. So I'm sending in that letter with another marriage certificate. A photocopy of it. A photocopy of what i originally sent it. and this French thing called a bulletin de mariage that is state issued saying that you got married (not a marriage certificate but it comes from the town hall) WOOF!

That'd be a bad idea. Permanent marker would most likely leak through and would be visible on the other side.

Got my case #! And it only took 2+ months.

Today is a good day.

Grats! It's about damn time!

Wow, that's ridiculous! I've heard of a few cases where the original or certified copy weren't accepted by NVC even though it was the original or certified copy of the certificate. It's complete bull****! I hope the service request works, someone looks at it again and realises that it's the certified copy. Those reviewers need to realise that not all marriage/birth certificates look like the ones from the USA and they don't all look "official" even when they are.

Can I write NVC case no. on DS 230 and copies of the original certificate?

Yes, it's suggested to write the case number on ALL pages of the package (minus the cover sheet and cover letter). If you don't feel comfortable writing on original documents, you can always use sticky notes. That's what I was planning on doing.

Can I start and mail the Affidavit of support form its showing Paid now.

Do I have to fill out anything else or wait for the $404 to clear.

AOS $88.00 PAID

Select 15-MAR-2011 17:14 IV $404.00 IN PROCESS

If the AOS is showing as PAID now, yes, you can mail off the AOS package! Make sure you include the cover sheet from the payment portal and put that as the first paper in the package.
