Self employed - Is anyone a subcontractor for a foreign company?

Hello,

I am considering to become "self employed" and be a subcontractor for a french company (in France).

Is anyone here report self employed income for a foreign company to IRS?

If yes, how so?

I see on IRS that any paiement over 600$ should appear on a 1099 Misc form.

Is that really mandatory for a foreign company or what is important is that you keep your invoices and report all your incomes?

You should definitely keep track of your income and expenses if you work as a subcontractor for a foreign company. Whether the French company is required to issue you a 1099 depends on whether or not they are treated as conducting business in the U.S.
