Gordon, I have to agree. I know kitkat has a waiver but I don't think GaryC or hockeygal does.

We were approved in 84 days. I lived in England for 2 years while in college, met him there. We dated for almost 2 years before filing - IN PERSON, not online. We both have never married. We are in our mid 30s. But England is not a high fraud country. But neither is Canada, is it? (Some Canadians are having delays)

Ah, who knows, but I know my case was very straightforward & labelled correctly.

It would be nice to think there was a reason, but I doubt it, as there have been many people who met in person once and filed right after, from allegedly high fraud countries who have been approved. Even people who checked "yes" to IMBRA have been approved!

He is an upstanding USC, I am a Canadian, we've been seeing each other on average every 6 weeks for 5 years, our petition was in lovely order... I can't see why we would be requiring special checks etc. He happens to have a very high security clearance, but I don't think that would matter, since I have already been checked out regarding that by them, and departments do not share info like that anyhow. I wish they'd send me another RFE or something so at least I'd know my petition wasn't in lovely order afterall!

Nope, I am going with the storage room/pinata theory. ;)

We lived in the same town together in Canada (how we met) and have been dating for more than 2 years too - both never married before. Very straightforward case like yours, and yet we are still waiting. Clearly that isn't the reason some people get approved sooner.

-Eli-

We lived together for 2 years too (2003/2005)... our case is also very very very straightforward, we've never been married before and all of our documents were neatly organized. We're still waiting though.... 180 days from the day we sent the petition.

Can I call the USCIS from outside the US? I'm not sure if you have to be the USC to call or if you have to be in the US.....

97 days today.

I am beginning to think there is criteria for why some move frmo NOA1 to NOA2 in 20 versus 120 days.

I am curious to hear from someone who is approved in, let's say, a reasonable time of 40 days. We all hear alot from those of us who wait, and wait, and wait.

What I would like to know is what characteristics do these quick approvals have in their applications.

I don't believe in "random" and therefore "feel" like there is something on the applications that is making some move faster than others?

Petitioner's career? gender? age? age difference? marital status?

There must be some criteria that is used to cause the SC to look at a specific petition.

Good luck to all,

Gordon

Gordon, I have to agree. I know kitkat has a waiver but I don't think GaryC or hockeygal does.

We were approved in 84 days. I lived in England for 2 years while in college, met him there. We dated for almost 2 years before filing - IN PERSON, not online. We both have never married. Ah, who knows, but I know my case was very straightforward & labelled correctly.

Thanks .

My view is that to get the NOA2, the approval should be primarily weighted on the USA petitioner's standing. After all, the benficiary will have to prove themselves again as well. I personally don't think it's that simple as the beneficiary's country. For us, we work in the same industry, different companies, for a long time each. She, although from Thailand, very highly educated, fluent in english, manager in the energy compnay she works for, mid 30s, ni children, owns her own house, car etc. etc. To me, it must be something on the USA end because there are NOA2s issued very quickly after I applied; such as 2 recently for beneficiaries in Manila and 1 in Morocco.

I would still like to see specifics written by someone who receives this in an acceptable time, which to me, including post time, is 40 days.

Gordon

Nope, I am going with the storage room/pinata theory. ;)

I agree. I can't believe there's any logic to it.

We have a straightforward case and a lawyer, who I am assuming sent off everything in an organized fashion.

We're around 140 days now and haven't heard from them since IMBRA RFE July 17.

I'm trying not to think about it.

NOA1: April 6, 2006

IMBRA RFE: July 17, 2006

RFE #2: September 25, 2006

OMG a touch!: October 5, 2006

another touch!: October 7, 2006

hey, back up a minute...

APPROVED!!! October 4, 2006, received letter October 16, 2006

I count 160 days for me (March 22nd, they received RFI 8/2, last touch 8/7).

I contacted my Senator a while ago and have sent emails to his office every other week or so informing them of current status (or lack thereof). One of them, I was told, was forwarded on to their contact at the USCIS/CSC on August 11th.

I was told they allow 30 business days for a response (that's 42 days to me and you).

Since then, I been copying the statistics posted in these general discussions into emails and forwarding them on in hopes of illustrating the inefficacy of the CSC and the imparity of this system.

So far, I've yet to receive any response. So I just keep sending them. I guess I should allow 30 business days but I think I've been more than patient already.
