That would be like me wearing this t-shirt to work and not expect to get fired.

Where I work, I would get promoted. After all, COPS stands for Criminal Organization in Public Service, and we all know that. Where can I order this shirt?

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

That's not the point. The owner asked him to take it off, he didn't, 5 times.

The salesman took that as an unreasonable demand on him and refused. What if your boss asked you to wear a dog collar and walk around the office on all fours? Everybody has a line that they won't cross when it comes to obeying a bosses orders. If you were a woman 40 years ago, working in a male dominated profession, you'd have had to put up with a lot unreasonable "requests" by your boss. A boss shouldn't be telling his employees not to wear neckties that have an opposing team theme. That's just petty bullsh!t.

Danno, you're being disingenuous, again. Oops, I mean steven. My boss isn't going to ask me that. If I came to work with a novelty tie and was told that it was unprofessional, I would begrudgingly comply.

I have to wear a tie to work M-Th, except during summer. If I ever wore one that had the Playboy logo on it, I will be sent home to change and told to not come back until I do.

 Playboy and an NFL football team logo are completely different.

If I came to work with a novelty tie and was told that it was unprofessional, I would begrudgingly comply.

I would too, but that's because I don't have the balls that this salesman has. I respect him for standing up for himself.

Most dealerships would do anything to get salespeople that can sell that many cars. His old boss is I am sure kicking himself on his stupidity.

Why? There are probably more hardcore bears fans than not in Chicago. This dealership just got a lot of free publicity. All those people in the followup article who claimed they would drive hundreds if not thousands of miles to buy a car from the guy are all full of sh!t.
