I'm the US citizen petitioner...can I just show up at the embassy for my wife's cr1 interview next week in Dublin (with her obviously)? Should we call the embassy first or is if even allowed at all?

Chances are, your wife will be interviewed by herself and you will not be allowed into the area where the interview will take place. There may be a place on the Embassy grounds where you will be allowed to wait. You may want to call the Embassy for specifics.

I learnt that you have to make an appointment at the embassy as a USC to coincide with the time of your wife's interview, thats how you'll be allowed to go inside together. At the time of the interview I believe at some point she will be at the counter answering questions by herself and you will be called if need be, but your presence will be known.

Depending on the circumstances surrounding your petition, I would attend. Nairobi stated that I coulld not attend but I came anyhow, knowing the type of issues that come up and after smoozing the security guards there was able to get in and it was a blessing I did or my wife would NOT have gotten her visa. The CO did not want to speak to me and told me to take a seat but after about 3 minutes, told my wife to get me and bring me to the window to answer questions. They put us onhold evven though was there since 6am to take a seat and kept us there til about 4pm to give us a Stokes Interview by another CO to confirm the legitimacy of our petition. I thank VJ for the insight which inspired me to say that I would allow nothing to prevent her from obtaining her visa and cost me me time away form my wife and others costs for another interview, etc...

Just to mention, I am a govt contractor and posessed my govt ID. Since there is a timeframe for US citiziens to enter the embassy for services, it took thee pressure off the Embassy Security as well to not prevent me from entering. I would advise to appear as well even if you cannot get in at first for the CO may request your prescence and this beats rescheduling.

It is consulate dependent, some do some don't... you need a Dublin specific answer... might be easiest to call/email ahead of time

YMMV

For London - Yes, but make sure to register - " However, your name must be entered onto the security access list otherwise you will not be admitted. "

I hope to do so soon myself - once VSC gets around to the remaining July filers.

Thanks, we are calling today.

I plan to attend the interview with my fiance and from what I have heard up until now, they allow the US citizen to attend. If you could post here when, and what you find out from the embassy, it would be greatly appreciated! :)

I called the Visa Services number on Friday and they said no problem I can attend. I think it really is a good idea if they allow it...we are bringing duplicates and in some cases triplicates of every possible form, certificate, tax return, pay stub, pictures etc that we can think of. With both of us there with all of our pertinent information I hope we are reducing the chance of something missing and causing a delay in processing. Our interview is Tuesday at 115pm in Dublin...I leave Houston tomorrow morning...wish us luck!

PS. The lady on the phone said the only requirement for me is a US passport
