A screw up in the initial filing of my wifes I-130 resulted in our sons petition not being filed. Yes, on a professional preparers advice our son was inserted into my wifes petition as an intended derivative beneficiary which we know now was impossible, Mia Culpa. But extenuating circumstances also were consistent in an error on the part of USCIS.

Upon this discovery, i quickly assembled an I-130 for him and sent it with a compelling expedite plea. I also enlisted my local congressman's spokesperson who filed a formal expedite plea on my behalf and enlisted her contacts at USCIS. Bottom line, the petition was approved in 14 days and sent to NVC by UPS 2nd day air.

Fortunately, in an effort to nudge things along a little at the NVC, I called them today to speak to a supervisor that was helpful when I discovered the error that led to the filing of the I-130 for our son. She said that they had already discovered that somehow, USCIS had sent the petition not to the NVC, but to the National Records Center and there were a number of people from all 3 agencies searching for the petition. She asked for me to call back Friday as she expected an update by then.......................AAAAAAAAArrrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhh USCIS
