My fiance got a phone call last week from the US embassy in Port-au-Prince telling him that they changed his interview date from Oct. 5 to Sept. 16 (a saturday!).

We were both so happy that it was moved forward but I'm skeptical.

Has anyone heard of a Consular conducting an interview on a Saturday?

Seems odd. Especially when the embassy doesn't have hours on Saturdays at this location.

I've emailed them and our lawyer about it, but no response yet.

If it was a legitimate call from the Embassy, why question it? Government people do actually work on weekends. Did it myself for many years overseas.

Legitimize the source of the call and be happy!!! :D

That would suck though if you bought a non-refundable airline ticket to be with your fiance during his/her interview and then they go and change it...

I would demand the government pay airline tix change fees!! :)

I think he will need the interview appointment letter when he arrives at the embassy to enter. I would fax the embassy and ask them to send a new appointment letter with the new date, that should confirm it for sure.
