2-year meeting requirement. Help!

Hello, Good day! :)

I am new in this site and just like everyone here, I have also finally found the love of my life who I spent all these years looking for. Its like having been able to complete the missing pieces in a puzzle.

Love - yes, what a magical and wonderful feeling one could ever feel. Its one of the greatest gift and luxury which cannot be bought but only felt in the very core of our being. (L)

Distance means so little when someone means a lot to you and we will do our very best to do what we can just to be with each other and to be as one. He'll come visit me on Feb and we will start the K1 process when he goes back home. Although I have a little concern which I am worried. Part of the requirements of a K1 visa is that "at least you and your fiance/e have known each other for 2 years" What if not? What happen if I don't meet that requirement? Is it REALLY required? How many of you here have processed the petition even if you and your fiance/e have not been together for as long as 2 years?

We have just known each other for like 6 months now.. Please share your thoughts. Thanksss!:)

The requirement is that you have met in person at least once during the last two years. The in-person meeting you will have in February will satisfy that requirement.

Please re-read carefully the requirements of the K-1 visa... Do not read more into it than what is written...

YMMV

Oh, seems like I misunderstood the statement. But what a relief knowing that we do not have to have had a 2 year long relationship before we can file.

Thanks for all the answers. Cheers!

Hi Kish, welcome to the site! When he goes to visit you in Feb, that would satisfy the requirement of meeting in person within 2 years. Be sure to have loads of photos together when he goes to visit. :) You'll need that as one of the evidences of bonafide relationship when you have your interview.

I hope you have an awesome time when you do see each other in person and best of luck on your K1 process! :)

Don't just take a lot of pictures though! KEEP all your boarding passes (or his boarding passes, whatever), luggage tags, and tickets if you can, and then make several copies of them. These are your PRIMARY EVIDENCE of having met in person before applying.

The pictures are also a great idea, but only support your case as SECONDARY evidence.

Have fun together in February!!
