He's biased

So are you.

The author never claimed that allowing people to carry guns deters violent crime;

he merely stated that in a year when Americans binged on buying guns and ammo,

we had less murder, robbery and other violent crime, contrary to what the opponents

of the 2nd Amendment often claim.

A lot of it is speculative buying. They fear the Kenyan socialist homosexual librul communist European president is gonna erase the 2nd Amendment with whiteout.

While they are buy ammo, I'm buying organic seeds. Flower Power! Tra La La La La LA!

Seriously though, buy non GM seeds. They'll you know feed you. Unless you are gambling on cannibalism. Then I can see lots of ammo being useful.

The gun freaks plan to use their guns to steal your seeds.

redistribute.

I realize the current progressive taxation system pisses you off because of your perception that it redistributes your 'wealth' to people you consider undeserving (the poor). And you may very well think that 'redistribution' by force of arms would be your way of getting back at the system that screwed you for so many years, but do try to remember that you still won't be stealing GM seeds from the poor because the poor won't have them. You'll be stealing from people who in all likelihood are as well off (or more well off) as you are and are treated no different than you are by the current progressive tax system. The only difference is they whine about it a lot less than you do.

The poor will die off rather quickly.

you're far enough removed from any major population center to not have to worry. nothing ever happens out where you are and while im sure that's boring if you're 16 it must be nice when older.

You think so?

Absolutely. People who aren't self-sufficient will not be able to hang out in places like the Super Dome until the government brings them food. Since they're ill-prepared to get their own food, they'll be incapable of doing so and will either starve to death (more likely they'll dehydrate) or be killed in the course of attempting to acquire food/water.

Poverty breeds savagery. I wouldn't underestimate them.

Savagery is very tough on an empty stomach. You'd be surprised how many calories it takes!

I don't underestimate them. A large mob of lightly armed people will be relatively easy to defeat - especially when you don't have to exterminate them all, only convince them to look elsewhere.

If TSHTF I'd be more worried about them than gun freaks like you.

You must not have much ammo then.

There are assumptions behind his claims. That's what I said.

People bought more guns and ammo. Crime went down. Those are facts.

Where's the assumption there?
