My fiancee & I use Skype. I ordered her a Skype number and the $2.95/month unlimited to US/Canada plan. (I also have a cell plan that allows me to call a list of numbers free unlimited.)

So, she calls me on my cell phone.

I use my cell phone to call her.

But, she has to be at the computer. Unfortunately, they don't have a good plan that allows me to call her cell.

I don't know how they will treat the log, but I get the log on the my cell phone bill. And then I just printed the Skype page that shows this is her Skype number. And hope they will accept it.

We talk a lot and there's no way I could afford phone cards proper.

I have tried http://www.myEcalls.com

very decent rate and crystal clear voice quality. I like the Flat Rate (5 cent/min) plan for any number anywhere in VN including mobile. It has all the features that other phone cards have such as pinless, speedial, report, etc. If you call mobile number in VN a lot, this will save you money.

While I like v-247's quality, I found a problem with v-247. The call records do not list the local time when the call was made. They show the Pacific Time Zone(California). I called Vien Lien 247 to ask if the time zone could be changed to the local zone and they said it can't be changed. This is fine if you're in the Pacific Time Zone, but this is useless for other time zones if you need an accurate record!

Do any of the other phone services show the local time that the call was made?

I just purchased a V247 phone card and will be using this for the very first time tmr morning to call my fiance. At the top of the card on the back, the text states "Do not dial 011 to call international numbers". However, when I go to their website, it states to Call to overseas phone number: Dial country code + area code + destination phone number + "#". If anyone has used this phone card before, which one is it... dial country code or not??

Since I cannot edit my previous post, I must not have been thinking straight since on the website, it says how to actually call a number to Vietnam. Hopefully this calling card will be better since the once I used before (STI) depleted all my minutes after one use. Suppose to be a 40 minute card but only got 15 minutes out of it.

Make sure you check out the terms. It might say 40 minutes to a landline in HCMC, but if you are calling a cell or to different provinces, the cost could be a lot more.

For V247, simply dial one of their "local" access # and listen for instruction. If they recognize your phone #, then simply dial 084-your destination #. If they do NOT recognize your phone #, then input your access code, then 084-your destination #.

You don't dial that VN phone # direct; therefore, you don't dial 011........ You go through V247. Their system automatically recognizes "084" is an international phone call.

When I dialed the local access # (not the 1-888), the prompt was in Vietnamese... not sure if they are asking for the pin # or not?? So I then tried the 1-888 number and asked for a pin and gave me the # of minutes available. I then tried to call my fiance via cell and landline and it kept ending the call. I managed to call her today via my wireless international calling plan, but that gets way too expensive.
