Hey VJ guys ..It has been long time I have been here on VJ.Good to see you all back on IJ(immigration journey). Here is my wife situation. We have filed for I-751 on september 16, 2010 at VSC and early biometrics taken on 12.10.10.Since then we have been waiting for GC and havenot heard since then .But My wife is planning a trip to india some time in march for 3-4 months and we are in the process of buying tickets.

But we got stuck with this process. Here are my concerns and questions:

1. we all know that she can travel with her extension letter but if they ask for interview or other after she leaves trip?? what should we do? Come back ? (most expensive)Does she need any kind of stamp on her passport(from infopass) before she leaves?

2. Secondly I tried to make infopass appt online for follow up on I751 and to discuss travel options but it has too many options .It says that we must bring service request number (? from customer service) ??How do i get that

Can any one detail how to make infopass appt chosing right options.

Any suggestions or ideas are well appreciated ...Please add me to September filers list. :)

If you, as a couple, were called for an interview but didn't show up, your wife's I-751 will be denied. So YES you need to come back. I'm not even sure (and i hope someone can correct me) about rescheduling options.

2. Secondly I tried to make infopass appt online for follow up on I751 and to discuss travel options but it has too many options .It says that we must bring service request number (? from customer service) ??How do i get that

Just select the option to "speak to an immigration officer"

Wife's I-130:

03/15/2019 NOA1 (Nebraska Service Center)

02/11/2020 Case transferred to Vermont Service Center

02/02/2021 NOA2 الحمد لله

02/04/2021 Approval email

oh man, you applied in September? Hopefully she will be approved before she goes in March! If not... All I know about question #1 is that we tried to get a stamp in my husband's passport (we had the extension letter, but he was traveling to Canada frequently and needs a visa if he didn't have a valid green card ... and the Canadians he dealt with at the airport didn't like the extension letter option so we thought the stamp might seem more valid to them for future trips...). We were informed at our Infopass appointment that if we got a stamp in his passport, then we had to relinquish his green card. Which I thought would be worse, then he would have to travel with his passport on him at all times? Anyway, I don't know if this is true across the board - that it is green card + extension letter OR stamp in passport - but that is what we were told in the San Francisco office.

Your wife won't have any problem returning, and she doesn't need the stamp, as the US immigration officers totally know the extension letter thing and hers is good till Sept 2011.

Re: question #2, I don't remember but yeah, it was something like "speak to an immigration officer." But if it is just to ask about your wife's trip, you don't really need an appointment. I am pretty sure, after our experience of taking a morning off work to go to an appointment, that they won't be very helpful. Yes, you guys will have to go to the interview together (assuming you filed together) and you can ask the VJ community if those who had an interview had the option to change the date.

I hope this immigration stuff does not mean that you end up having to buy an extra ticket back for an interview! This process costs so much already...
