Questions on Remote Work for K1 Visa Immigrant/Taxes/Job Hunt for Translator

My fiancee is from Brazil, has a degree from her country in translation and currently works as a translator/terminologist at a company in Brazil translating technical documents from English to Portugese or vice versa. A few questions, when she moves here under the K1 visa can she continue to work at this company remotely from the US even if she does not have an EAD yet? If payments are made to her Brazilian bank account is she required to pay US taxes? One last question, for anyone in this type of field, do you recommend some sort of certification or education in the US to make her education or experience more appropriate to her jub hunt here?

Quite a number of Canadians (including myself) continued to work for their foreign employer after they moved here. It is perfectly legal. All foreign income must be reported on US taxes. Some countries have a tax treaty with the US so they aren't taxed twice. It doesn't appear that Brazil is one of them so you will need to look into that further. Link In addition, if she has any investments in her country, those must be claimed also.

I can't say about the immigration situaction.

but about a certification, in the US there is no obligation to have a certification or te certified. she can choose to go to school if there is a program at college or university level.

if she wants to be a court interpreter then you do need a state certification, but not for translators.

she can be certified translator with the American Translator's Association.

she can check out the website.
