I think it ruins a healthy and vigorous debate on guns or whatever and I think there are plenty of sites online where you can call people dirty names and get away with it.

Just because a few have them now does not mean it would not be significantly worse if all were openly allowed this 'right'!

Right now they can find one if they want one - but it's illegal - and we don't have a significant problem with them murdering innocent people. However, when we make it legal, all of the sudden they're going to start murdering innocent people just because it's legal for them to own a gun?

We're not going to repeal the murder laws too, are we? So how does legal possession of a gun (as opposed to illegal) relate to an increase in homicides?

Are you one of those, "Well if they have them they'll use them" types?

While we are on this point how would you propose we deal with would-be suicide terrorists?

Same way we deal with all other terrorists - take away their reason to be terrorists.

Since the range of weapons would rightly include military grade explosives, should a 'citizen' be allowed to make a vest of said material, cover it with nails and ball bearings, and equip it with a detonator? Then be allowed to attend a political rally or a super bowl game, go to a packed church or synagogue? Do you seriously still feel that we should allow all citizens access to all weapons?

Can you come up with a bigger "what if?"

It's ironic that people who don't go armed everywhere are seen as wimps but the people who carry guns in shoulder holsters and look fearfully at every stranger are somehow 'real men'. It's an upside down world.

It's not the weapon that makes the man. However, there's something to be said for a man that's prepared to deal with a threat as opposed to one that's not.

I don't have a problem with Muslim-Americans. I only point that out to make the poster and potential respondents aware that their status as US Citizen covers a very wide range of people, not just those from their own little 'real america' as Palin likes to dog-whistle to her pack.

I find it humorous you guys bring up the "gun murder" rates yet fail to associate the "murder" rates between our two countries and how they affect the everday life of most of our citizens.

If you crunch those numbers you'll find a very common theme in both the safe, peaceful, FREE UK and the violent, troubled, FREE US - murder affects our citizens very little.
