Lesson plans have been drawn up for pupils as young as four, in a scheme funded with a £35,000 grant from an education quango, the Training and Development Agency for Schools.

The initiative will be officially launched next month at the start of "LGBT History Month" – an initiative to encourage teaching about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual issues.

The lesson plans, spread across the curriculum, will be offered to all schools, which can choose whether or not to make use of them.

But critics last night called the initiative a poor use of public money which could distract from the teaching of "core" subjects.

I do not think this will end well. I can imagine young children going home and asking their parents what gay people do. That should be a conversation for a later age for most of these kids.

Fill in straight for gay in the subjects listed and ask yourself if you ever had to do straight math, straight design, straight geography or straight language when were you in school. Anytime you have an overarching ideology permeating most of the curriculum you do a disservice to students to push a system of beliefs to please some interest group.

I chose to be straight, I also chose to blink my eyes when needed and nurse from a nipple..... or maybe all those things just came by natures design.

As for certain aspects of sexuality being a "lifestyle", it's rather hard to pretend there is no gay-lifestyle when you have endless examples.

Gay activity clubs of every type.

Gay PACs

Gay fashion

Gay dictionary's

Gay Authors

Gay Cook books

Gay fraternities

Gay Churches

One could go with examples for a long, long time.

I can think of no other sexual minority which has such a richly developed lifestyle.

Now Ron, if Danno wants to tell us that he chose to deny his gayness and chose instead to live a heterosexual life then we should commend his amazing self control. Not all gay guys can pull off denial of their instincts.

As to the OP I doubt 35k will be enough funding to completely wreck the youth of the UK.

I guess you are referring to the title of this article as if I wrote it. I posted it, but I didn't write it or come up with the title.

Is there a "gay" lifestyle? I'd say that gays and their cheerleaders are much more immersed and anally obsessed with homosexuality than heteros are by a wide margin. You don't see heteros flying rainbow flags on their houses or putting rainbow and/or = bumper stickers on their cars like the homos in my neighborhood do. Why is it even necessary to wear homosexuality publicly on their sleeves in such a ridiculous public manner? Not sure if that is a lifestyle, but it is creepy and weird.

About as creepy and weird as indoctrinating and brainwashing impressionable children with the self serving agendas of idiotic and misguided adults as the article states. If this kind of stupidity was just limited to Britain it wouldn't even merit posting, but the same kind of lunacy has popped up here in the USA with the lunatic fringe attempting to impose so called children's books like "Heather's Two Mommies" on young children in public schools. Leave little kids alone and let them be kids. This type of trash is highly inappropriate to impose on little children.

As to whether children should be encouraged not to see homosexuality and lesbians as freaks, weirdos and abnormal, seems to me a very healthy idea; the only thing that is sad about it is that in this day and age that should still be necessary, but judging by the comments in this thread, it very much is.

I don't know why homosexuals affix homosexual paraphernalia to their cars and houses. Why don't you ask them? Why ask me? I made an observation, not an in depth psychological study.
