Hey guys,

Some of you may know i moved to US after getting married. Our daughter was born 4 months ago and I want to know if i can apply citizenship/sin/passport or anything else you guys may know. Appreciate your help. thanks

The title of your post says that your daughter was born in the US. If this is so then she is already a US citizen and nothing else is required. Her father and you are both required to get her passport.

P.S. You may want to update your timeline. It doesn't show you as having received you visa and moving to the US.

Now what..? Nothing just another American. You do not need to apply for anything for your daughter to get citizenship. You mentioned passport.. if you need one for her.. just take her long birth certificate to the nearest office.

I assume you want to have dual citizenship for her? You need to do as suggested above, apply for a US passport for her using her US birth certificate and then also report the birth abroad to Canada so you can work on getting a Cdn passport as well to proove her Cdn citizenship (through you as a Cdn parent)

I'm sure someone here can chime in about how to go about reporting the birth.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

i understand my daughter is US citizen, i don't need to do anything, she has already recevived most of her documents. What I wanted to say was what do i need to do to get her ctizenship, sin#m, passport in canada. Since i am Canadian. thanks for the links. i will check it out now. the link doesnt work thanks
