documents needed to prove common residence

In the thread above, "Applying for AOS in the USA," tip #2 lists "Types of documents needed to prove common residence." It goes on to list things like credit/debit cards, insurance info, photos together, a joint bank account & major purchases.

Is this evidence that would be brought to the interview or evidence that should be sent in with the AOS paperwork?

I'm aware proof of common residence would be necessary at some point but I guess I'm confused as to how much I should submit initially. We should have evidence for most items on the list within a few weeks after getting married...but looking at the instructions for I-485 I couldn't find anything about common residence.

I was wondering about that too, thats why I think vanessa and tony's aos guide is much clearer to understand :)

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

Thanks guys :)

To answer the OP, the evidence of relationship isn't until (and if) you have an interview. Used to be you were hoping for no interview but now it seems it's taking much longer for those who don't have interviews than those who do so rather than hoping for no interview, good luck for a speedy AOS :D

I followed Vanessa & Tony AOS Guide when I started consoladating my AOS package and i dont have any problems...no RFE in the mail...( thanks God)

We got approved recently and luckily IO ( nice young lady) never asked any documents stipulated in the interview notice that we received.I had all the original documents and proofs of our relationship as couples..but she never bother to asked.Just a series of questions regarding our relationship. We even told her to look our photo's if she want too...finally she started browsing the photo album. Overall it was a pleasant interviewed and no harrassment at all;-)

I guess the IO did a pretty good job doing her homework to go through our files before we show up ;-) :D

I wish you luck on your journey:-)))

Hi Vanessa,

I followed your guide for AOS when I started consoladating my AOS package...and no RFE in the mail that I wanted to avoid.;-) and i also wish before that no interview...but I guess having an interview makes our approval faster than without an interview.

And we got approved recently and luckily the IO is so nice..she did her homework to go through our files before we show up and never bother to asked those documents listed on the interview notice that we received.

I felt it was just a formality that we need to show up for an interview as a part of their job;-)) hehe..or we just lucky that she was our IO assigned:-))

Once again, a millions thanks for helping us in our AOS journey:-)Your AOS guide is perfect, simple and vividly to understand.

Thank you so much Visa Journey!!!
