I have never seen so many lazy people together in one place. After all the work, documents, paperwork and other stuff. How hard can it be to put together 4 or 5 sentences without prying into your personal life. My question is if you really want your fiancée or fiancé here with you and you are without them around six months why not go the extra mile and attached a paper with 4 or 5 sentences. And I would not call this an extra mile but to be conservative in my sentence. I guess this make it easier for me and that is why all you guys get RFE’s. Wow, I hard can it be!

How difficult is it to follow the instructions and answer the question without ambiguity? Why do you need to write "paragraphs"? There's ample room on the form to answer the question to their satisfaction.

It has nothing to do with being "lazy".

I fail to see why people keep inventing "pseudo requirements" and purporting to others that it's a good thing to add superfulous information to their petitions....sigh

If you are submitting photos and airline boarding passes, passport stamps, etc. write a few paragraphs to tie it all together.

\" We met over the internet and I travelled on Jan 44, 1867 to meet her. While I was there we went to Disneyland. The enclosed photos show us together at disneyland on such and such date, etc."

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

I agree that is why I wrote a paragraph on an additional page. I just mentioned trips I took over there-to coincide with my boarding passes, passport stamps.

I'll tell them whatever they want to know- I should have told them I caught the bouquet at the wedding where I met him, what the bride/groom danced to. How many beers we had, what they served for dinner, what we were wearing.......................I could go on & on

i use the space provided too and just stated the where & when we met. of course, all the primary evidences were attached to the application. the question "describe the circumstances under which you met" is taken from the question of meeting within the last two years. if you answered yes, then the "circumstances" would be the when and where...not necessarily the how.

i see it this way...the less thing for them to read, the better. besides, if they really want a whole essay answer...they could at least be generous and give us more than just a line space...or maybe give us a TABLE to list...the how, when and where part...and maybe add a column on 'how did that make you feel"...i don't know. =/

just because we give them exactly what they asked for...it doesn't make us lazy.

mychelle,

I am not going to sit and argue this point all day but one or two questions. You said this;

“i see it this way...the less thing for them to read, the better. besides, if they really want a whole essay answer...they could at least be generous and give us more than just a line space...or maybe give us a TABLE to list...the how, when and where part...and maybe add a column on 'how did that make you feel".”

Now if they have lines for 4 children and you would have 6 you would just write 4 because there are 4 lines and if they wanted more they would have put more than 4 lines. This makes a lot of sense and not only with children it applies to jobs, names, address, schools, etc.

Hey cool I am not trying to chage your mind if your are like that fine. The more power to you.

Good luck,

I think in "some" cases people simply can not fit an answer onto that one line. I know for myself, I wrote how we met & I did add a supplemental paragraph attatched, just to show travel dates for the both of us. I didn't write any kind of long drawn out "story" just the dates. At the time I submitted the petition, I thought that it would have helped the person looking at my case. They would have had my travel dates as well as boarding passes, copy of passport stamps, hotel receipts.

I guess it is a matter of preference-to each his own kinda thing

Same as me, I just wrote about six sentences but in the letter I stated that I whet to visit her 10 times in 3 years with a table of all the arrival and departure dates. But I do not think that ones need to go this far, just 4 or 5 sentences. I guess I am just #######.

I would say "thorough" not #######

I personally wanted to give them everything right up front-I did NOT want an rfe. I figured I was doing the best thing, by supplying them with the travel dates & the additional info that is why I added the paragraph. Besides, "I met him at a wedding in Aug 2003...blah blah"-just seemed too generic, I wanted to elaborate on that statement, so I did. This is one of those things that everyone probably did differently.

It doesn't have to be a small novella -- short, to the point, and backed up with evidence.

There have been some cases on VJ of people getting RFE'ed for not including how/when they originally met (they had done a great job of proving they had seen each other in person within the 2 years, but failed to explain when they had first met and began the relationship -- I think this was a couple that had been together a while)--- this can be taken care of very easily. :)

I totally agree-I felt I should explain the copies of boarding passes, & hotel receipts & such. I didn't make a gangster movie out of it, I just explained very briefly in 4 or five sentences. It didn't get my a quick noa2, but I still feel I did the right thing.

Oh, I'm with ya. :)

The whole point of the I-129f petition is to provide a submission where all the parts (completed forms and evidence) work together in harmony to accomplish the goal -- receiving permission for your fiance to apply for a fiance visa. Someone a while ago (andy? yodrak?) likened it to pieces of an overall puzzle -- does the evidence/answers fit? Do they answer questions instead of creating new ones; help, not hinder? Then a good I-129f petition fits into the picture you will need for your visa interview. It's like building blocks (oh the metaphors! ;) )

I did not append any extra sheets to my application.

I used the space provided on the form and wrote the following:

We met in <country, city> between <travel dates> and were together <days, weeks, months>. Please refer to supporting evidence attached.

Supporting evidence comprised of: passport exit/entry stamps; airline boarding passes; hotel reciepts; CC/ATM withdrawal reciepts.

I had no photos so hence I submitted none.

We filled in the question box on how we met but then got an RFE saying they wanted further evidence (one was a written letter explaining how we met). So I'd do that just incase.

Love hurts

When you live an ocean away

When you change your sleep schedule to catch a few more moments

When you really need to be held and you have to imagine whilst your partner describes it

When you constantly refresh the USCIS website to see if you're getting any closer

Love Loves

When it repays you with the love of your life

When God finally answered your biggest prayer

When you can live life again in the real world but still have that eternal connection

When you wake up for to the beginning of the rest of your life with the person you fought so hard for

When you love somebody that much

You'll do anything

Not sure that I should bother at this point, but just wanted to clarify that I didn't mean you should be lazy and not bother to supply the necessary information and evidence with your petition and I bet those who had similar advice to mine would say the same.

All I was saying is that I tried to make my petition as straightforward as possible. They ask a simple question about if you have met, I answered it in the space they provided, assuming that unless you have a complicated story, that is the type of answer they wanted.

I think that there are many different ways to compile a successful and speedy petition, since many of us have had that experience even though we have differing opinions about the best way to do things. At the end of the day, those reading this board for advice have to take it all in and then decide for themselves the best way to do their own paperwork.

Here is the point I have been trying to make and like “AFQuiad”, there have been others. My point is why take this chance when you could provided the information up front and not waist time by getting an RFE.
