Great job Monica! Impressive.

Good luck on Round 2 with Casa.

Is there any possibility you can be in Casa for the interview?

I forget - were you in Casa for the 1st?

Maybe you were; I can't remember.

Anyway, great news. What a way to welcome in December for you :star:

Thanks ladies. And yes, my daughter & I were in Casa for the 1stinterview...depending on when the new one is will determine if I can be there...hopefully I can, I think it might help & it would be easier to carry all of the Affidavit Paperwork then to trust the mail system...lol

Hubby and I are hopefully finishing up with NVC by the end of the month....we were denied our k1 last january.....was thinking about going to morocco this time for the interview....what do people think of this? I know they don't usually let usc into the interview, but have seen that some have been in the interview. Is it possible to make things worse by being there? I want to see his family again anyways, but really want to go to give hubby support. Thanks all for the feedback!

Oh, God, this is all terrifying!

My fiance and I are pulling together what we need for the first step-- sending in the petition.

Anyone-- help? Suggestions?

I'm a USC (f, 28 years old) who has lived in Morocco for 4 years. I didn't date a Moroccan for 3 years of it... until I met my fantastic fiance. I never thought I could date, let alone marry someone with a different religion, but we just work. It's beautiful. Now, I'm just ready to go home and to bring him with me! I'm just so frustrated to hear all of this... these roadblocks.

I'm hoping, praying, crossing my fingers that we go through relatively speedily. Anyone have suggestions, what to do or not to do, etc.?

I don't have any airline stubs (I didn't realize I'd need them at the time!). Do you think this will be a problem for ongoing relationship? We have pictures of us together in Morocco and in Italy. I can print out emails, show that we were both in Morocco at the same time with passport stamps, etc. I have pictures of l'eid with his family, and bowling at Megamall... on the beach... but how do you PROVE a relationship? It seems like such a hard thing to do.

I have friends who are also applying, which is good, so we have a bit of a support network. I also have an acquaintance who just went to the states on his K-1! He says it was easy, but who knows?

My fiance is still working on his BA. Do you think this will hurt our chances?

Shukran bizzef for all the help! Good luck to you all as well!

Peace,

K.

I agree with Sachinky. As an outsider who only has the information that people post on the boards, it's not immediately clear to me why some couples are approved and others aren't. I'm hesitant to call Casa unpredictable because the CO's obviously have more information in front of them than I do, but at least from my vantage point I'd be really hesitant to place bets on who will or won't have an easy time getting their visa. With that said, your experience in the country, your long period of time dating in person, and your age will all help set you apart from the norm that the consulate sees, and I think that will be to your advantage. My advice would be to take it seriously and get all your evidence together as if you have a tough road ahead, but try not to compare yourself too much to the "typical Casablanca relationship"....and good luck!!!

Ha, well, kind of...

Met about ten months ago, and just got engaged a few weeks ago. We thought we'd wait to get engaged until this summer, but we just kept talking about it and talking about it... and we BOTH independently started looking at rings... and it felt... right. :)

But-- he is getting his BA in a EU country right now. Italy. Whatever. If the consulate figures out who we are, that's fine. I have nothing to hide :)

What this means is that we met in person, through a mutual friend, and ended up dating for like 3-5 hrs a day for two weeks and then became long-distance. I visited him for a long weekend in Italy, and then we were long-distance again... unfortunately. He's been back here in Rabat since September and these three months together almost every day have been just wonderful. I mean, sure, we have our fights, just like any other couple, and sometimes the cross-cultural mishaps are crazy. He introduced me to his family (who are not scary, unlike stories of other in-laws), and...yeah. My family is going to try to meet him this spring.

Looking forward to getting to know this community and pick your brains!

If he's residing in Italy at the time of his interview, he will interview in Rome.. :)

If he's residing in Italy at the time of his interview, he will interview in Rome.. :)

He wants to do it in Casa. I think this is because I'm living in Rabat and so we can work on paperwork together before the interview for the proof documents instead of having to do it from a distance. All the translation from Arabic to English is here, all the police records (do we need those?), etc. are here and he has a permanent address instead of a dorm.

Even if Casa is notorious, I think it's better to have access to resources (and each other) and it feels like the right thing to do.

*shrug*

He will need police records from Italy too, dated within 6 months of the interview.

My husband said that when he was interviewed the guy hardly ever looked up from his computer. His impression was that the CO already knew the correct answers and was really just making sure my husband was verifying the information. In general, I think it is sooo easy to get worried about Casa (we did) but the best thing to do is to just be prepared for the interview but then don't worry about what others' experiences have been. Just be ready for the questions, have pictures (the CO asked us for pics) and evidence available if they ask for it (the CO did not ask for extra evidence but we had it just in case), and just tell the truth. Then deal with whatever the next step is. But I found that we worried a lot about uncontrollable things and wish we could have just focused on what we could control. Now I know it is so much easier said than done, so I am saying it to help and not to preach. Good luck!
