my passport is still in my maiden name do i need to renew it and use the surname of my husband? he is gonna file me for spouse visa. is it ok to use my old passport using my maiden or i should need to get new passport using his surname? thank you so much

You can use either surname. If you want to change it to your husband's surname, you will need to amend/renew your passport with Philippine Consulate. You will need to show your marriage certificate, in order to change your surname.

My wife renewed her passport and had her surname changed at the same time. It was the easier option for her. After receiving her new passport, she was able to get her driver's license having the new surname.

My wife renewed her passport to the married name. It was the best option. She renewed it once we got the NOA2. I think it is the best option & less hassle once you get to the US.

Removal of conditions Journey

16 March 2012 Sent I-751 package from Aviano AB, Italy.

29 March 2012 Received everything back...wrong fee. thought we didn't have to pay biometrics since we were sending fingerprint cards and passport photos.

30 March 2012 Sent everything out again from Aviano AB, Italy.

10 April 2012 Check cashed

17 April 2012 Received NOA1 dated 6 April.

06 Dec 2012 Received 10 yr green card. Letter said it was approved 28 November 2012.

If you are married to a foreign spouse for less than 7 months, you have to go to CFO to get a certificate of attendance

02-23-2018: Date on NOA, retrieved from online account

02-23-2018: Date on Biometrics Appointment Letter (Biometrics Appointment at Jacksonville ASC on March 13, 10:00 a.m.)

03-08-2018: Biometrics complete

04-05-2018: Case status updated - Interview Scheduled on May 10, 2018, 10:15 a.m. :D

05-10-2018: Citizenship Interview - Passed English and Civics Tests, Recommended for Approval! :D 

06-19-2018: Received email and text notification: Naturalization Ceremony Scheduled; waited for letter to be uploaded on online account - it has been set on Wednesday, July 25, 3:00 p.m.

07-25-2018: I am now a U.S. Citizen!
