What are the odds..

That my Fiancé and I will be together before September of this year? It's been about 5 1/2 months since we received our NOA1, and we saw from what other VJ's had posted that the Montreal wait times for an interview are brutal. So, what do you guys think is a possible/realistic time frame for our interview and approval.

Thank-You :)

odds? 89.2 percent for September.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

We were told that it would take 5-7 months for the whole process when we were first going through this. It's been almost a year for us and we have our interview on Feb. 15th!

We got our NOA1 around April 2nd of last year...and our NOA2 came in the beginning of September (5 months)...

sooo...our process with the interview coming was about 10 months for us!

There's a good chance for you :)

I would recommend electronic processing once you get to the NVC process..it goes much quicker and you receive emails as notifications instead of having to wait for the mail to come. When we got our interview date, my husband and I were out to eat and the email came through on my blackberry!!

GOOD LUCK!

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

K-1's to Canada won't benefit from any NVC Electronic Processing, alas.

Nice!!! Ten months isn't too bad considering it will be 6 months in Feb. Do you know why Montreal is so...backlogged? Good luck on your interview!!! :)

I don't know why they are so backed up...probably because they are the only place that handles the visas...I think Vancouver should be able to as well (but for some reason they can't!) Overall, this is a really easy process...the only part that is hard is the WAITING!!! It can get very frusturating!

Thanks and good luck to you too!!!!!

Vancouver does process them as well. And they do it fairly quickly! It just seems that Montreal gets the majority of the cases based on where the beneficiaries are located.

seems?

Nah - that's by design.

Canada is partitioned off into US consular districts , like any other country with more than 1 US Consulate/Embassy.

Want Vancouver instead? have yer fiance/e MOVE into the Vancouver Consular District, soonish !

That's basically what I said. Montreal gets most of the petitions because of the beneficiary's location. Hell, I'd gladly fly to Vancouver for my interview if it cut a few months off my waiting time!

Lol, although the idea of moving so we could be in the Vancouver Consulate 'zone' is appealing, there really isn't any room for that financially considering the big move coming up...soon...one day :D.

*and yes I know, it was a joke :P*

But would you move there, this weekend?

If so, great !

Be sure to MAKE SURE that NVC knows the new address, and ask for an interview in Vancouver.

I guess yer missing my point - it isna an option 'to fly' to Vancouver -

it's the ONLY PLACE YOU CAN GO if yer 'homed' to that Consular District

and

IMO, it's a better IV unit to interview (at ) , instead of Montreal, for lots of reasons.

Want Vancouver? Move, d@mmit, Gumby !!
