I always cry when I say goodbye to my husband and return to Canada.... It NEVER fails :|

I was thinking about this today and wanted to ask the people here how they cope with their separations? My husband and I are SOOO lucky as we touch borders so I am out to see him often, but I can't imagine how we could do this otherwise! Its just so hard!!!

We skype and talk on the phone around 1 hour a day total... We used to play WoW but have given that up recently...

Anyone? :)

We've been fortunate to spend about 7 months in person(when you add it up) since we met in May 2008. We spend a lot of time on skype, and when there's not time to talk it's because we're keeping busy which is a good thing, too.

I also just realized that we had sort of accidentally created a great diversion for ourselves. We're both really into Victorian antiques so we've been collecting mismatched vintage tea cups for our wedding. We finally just finished collecting enough for every guest and I realized that's when I started fretting about the visa and checking VJ every day!

you wanted from this life, even so?

I did.

IT COULD BE WORSE. You could be stuck in a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream. Or dead.

we keep in touch online about 1 hour each day,

but

I stay busy with

--writing

--doing stuff at my organic micro farm

--building stuff in my shop

--exercising (hour each day, reduced my stress levels much)

so - if you have a hobby that you've set aside - wei ! pick it up again !

what? no WoW?

ok - you two can 'pair off' for 'studying fun stuff online' -

two examples -

--you show him what you like on the online lingerie catalogs

--he shows you what he likes on the online hardware catalogs

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Find another man to mess around with. As long as you close your eyes and pretend it's your husband, it's not cheating.

 aj, don't quit your job to be a relationship counselor.

That is how my wife passes the time. When I am messing around with another man, I have to pretend it's my wifedevil.gif

Actually, we spend hours a day online. My wife's job requires her to be online basically all day and that allows us time to communicate on messenger while she is working. Often I get involved in some of the more technical translation work that finds its was to her desk. Translating technical material is beyond the ability of most who are not native speakers as so much self defining terminology is used and needs explanation prior to being translated. For this reason, the company director whom she works under(not to be confused with my first sentence) has no complaints that we chat when she is on duty provided there is no virtual sex goin on.
