Should I ask congressman for help

Hello VJers,

It's been 2 months since they received my applications and I was done with biometrics too. I was going to keep on waiting patiently for my EAD and interview letter to come but things didn't go own my way. My mother-in-law is struggling with her financial stuff and I'm feeling bad for her so I really want to start working as soon as possible. So my question is, should I contact my state congressman to ask him for help telling USCIS to expidite my EAD?

Any idea would be much appreciated.Thank you.

11/8/10: Medical exam

11/12/10:Get married

11/19/10: I-693 sealed.It means my chest x ray is fine :)

11/20/10: Package [ I-130,I-485,I-765] sent to Lockbox

11/22/10 [Day 1]: Delivered there

11/29/10 [Day 7]: Return receipt from USPS

12/13/10 [Day 21]: Texts and email received [ after 21 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!]

12/16/10 [Day 24]: Snail copy received

12/18/10 [Day 26]: Every single form touched

12/20/10 [Day 28]: Biometrics letter received

1/13/11 [Day 51]: Biometrics done

1/24/11 [Day 62]: Biometrcis appointment received AGAIN.!!!!!!!!!I was like #######

2/04/11 [Day 72]: Second biometrics done

2/15/11 [Day 83]: EAD in production.

2/18/11 [Day 86]: Interview letter received, set for March 21

2/22/11 [Day 90]: EAD mailed out.

2/25/11 [Day 93]: EAD received

3/21/11 [Day 118]: Interview but left with no decision ToT

3/31/11 [Day 128]: RFE regarding police clearance

4/13/11 [Day 141]: RFE sent

4/19/11 [Day 147]: Card in production

4/22/11 [Day 150]: Welcome2USA letter received

It took 5 stressful months exactly.

I dont think that would be a valid reason for congressman to go and shout at immigration offical to approve your case.

Immigration has approx time frame for each process as long as your app is within that time frame, most congressman would not do anything.

Mine took a little more than 2 months so you may just have to wait a little more. I understand it is hard to wait if you have financial problems (I was in the same boat).

I agree, it is most likely within the normal time frame (but you can check timelines for your location on this site).

You could try but you are well within normal processing for EAD.

processing times for an EAD is 3 months. By looking at your timeline, if I were you I wouldn't contact anybody yet.

My N-400 Journey

06-02-2017 - N-400 package mailed to Dallas Lockbox

06-06-2017 - Credit card charged; received text and email confirming that application was received and NOA is on its way

06-10-2017 - Received NOA letter from NBC dated 06-05-2017

06-16-2017 - Received Biometrics Appointment Letter for 06-28-2017

01-19-2018 - Interview Letter sent

02-27-18 - Interview and Oath Ceremony. Finally US CITIZEN!

You cannot start work until you have your EAD. That is illegal.

False.

She can not start working until she gets the actual approval of I-765 and the EAD card.

The A# that you are talking about is just an alien number that doesn't authorize you to do anything.

From your timeline it looks like it's only been a little over a week since you did biometrics and a month since you received your NOA. This is not only well within the normal timeline but fast compared to some jurisdictions. You can try contacting if you wish but I really doubt it will help.

10.21.2010 - Service request placed for biometrics
10.25.2010 - RFE received per USCIS
10.26.2010 - Text/email received - AP approved!
10.28.2010 - Biometrics appointment received, dated 10/22 - set for 11/19 @ 3:00 PM
11.01.2010 - Successful biometrics walk-in @ 9:45 AM; EAD card sent for production text/email @ 2:47 PM! I-485 case status now available online.

The thing is NOA said they received my application on November 22. It took them 21 days to send me NOA. That wasn't normal

LOL I know it is illegal since I came here to work as J1 already, so I know I need to have EAD to work. Anyways, thanks you guys for advice So I guess I have to keep on waiting until next month

You sent it around the holidays, though. We sent ours in August and it still took about 2 weeks for NOA. Nonetheless, now that you've done biometrics your EAD may not be that far off. :)
