IAW conversation with USICS Rep. I was told to submit I-130 using my "wifes family (maiden) name-name she at birth". I did just that along with her G-325 which also had her maiden name. I finally received the NOA1.

Now I'm confronted with the I-129F. It's ready to go except; which name? I have called USICS, but as most of you have experience, you can't get through to talk too a live person.

It appears to me that somewhere along this papermill my wifes married name must be placed as the "Beneficiary" name. I'm sure the Visa will have too match her passport, which is in her married name.

Options I have thought of:

Send the I-129f with married name which seems most correct, or

Send two I-129Fs (maiden/married) with an explanation cover letter, or

Have my wife change her passport back to her maiden name, or

The USICS provided the wrong answer  , the I-130 should of had married name vs maiden, and I must submit a name change, or

?????????

Any experienced/knowledgable replies will be most appreciated.

Best of Luck!

Sincerely!

Bernie

For I-130 and I-129F, married name can be used. However, G-325A specifically asks for the maiden name, so you have to use maiden name for G-325A. You don't nees to write an explanation letter for this.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

When we filed the I-130 and the I-129f ... we filled it out with my maiden name....

a couple of months before the interview, I changed my name in my passport to my married name.... I emailed the embassy and all they said I had to do was get them to change my name at the interview which I did with no problems.... this is in Canada though, it might work differently in other countries

but they will issue your wife the visa using the name that is in her passport....
