Hey Everyone!!!

I am about to reply to the Request for Initial Evidence letter I received recently. I am using a Joint Sponsor and will be submitting the most recent tax return, which is the 2009 Federal tax Return and W-2 for said sponsor. Do I have to submit an employment letter for my Joint Sponsor also??

A good thing to do is email your embassy on this one, I've gotten really helpful responses from the embassy in Santiago about these things. I just asked them recently what they would want to see for documentation for sponsors/co-sponsors. They stated that they wanted to see an employment letter, tax returns, and verification that the person co-sponsoring is a US Citizen (i.e. passport or birth certificate)

I-751 Removal of Conditions sent - 9/7/13

NOA1 received - 9/17/13

Biometrics appointment - 10/8/13

Removal of Conditions approved - 12/16/13

Thanks for your reply Lisa & Vinko but the co-sponsor does not need to be a US citizen they can be a LPR. So your saying I definitely need an employment letter for my Joint Sponsor?

It's not in the instructions so it's not required but there was someone who got an RFE recently for it. It IS mentioned on the USCIS page that has the instruction and form link that proof of employment is required. Did they ask for it though? If they didn't then it's not required but as you already got an RFE it can't hurt to get it to avoid another RFE.

Don't forget you'll need to prove the sponsor is a USC or LPR.

Thanks for posting this, this is excellent! Just went by what the Santiago embassy told me for my stuff, all embassies appear to be different, but this above info looks pretty comprehensive to me!
