Brainstorm on my next step after NOA2

Hello fellow VJers,

I received my NOA2 last week and then NVC letter on Saturday. So my guess is that the Rio embassy will receive my case this week. Now I am just thinking about my next step.

1. my girl is going to the federal and state police to get the police certificates this Wednesday. From the forum, I know it is going to take 2 weeks to one month. So the question is, should I wait for the police certificate and then submit packet 3 OR submit packet 3 now even though she hasn't received packet 3 yet and wait for the police certificate? I am afraid the police certificate can come later than the interview date if I submit the packet 3 right now.

2. She hasn't received packet 3 yet so I just want to confirm what to send back to the embassy. From the PDF instruction, I need to submit,

DS-230 Part I

DS-2001

Copy of pages that have personal info

one frontal picture (American passport picture??)

Does it look right to you guys?

3. What number did you guys call to know if the embassy receive the case or not? My girl called the embassy and all she heard were tons of prompts and can't get to anyone from the embassy.

Thank you all!!!!!!

Next thing after NOA2 is about a month at NVC then they send it to the consulate.

Also congrats on the quick process, it is very good to see, I too have a case at VSC, I hope my case moves like yours did!

See the flow chart. :guides:

Hi , fruto :) Welcome to VJ and congrats on your approval

1. Your fiancee is the one who should submit the packet 3 to the consulate, not you.

She can order the police certificates now or wait a few more weeks...the state one is ready right on for her to pick it up and the federal one takes 15 days depending on where she lives.

2. She can submit the packet 3 once she finds out her case is in the consulate which can be discovered by just sending an e-mail to them ( no need to waste your time on the phone). Can't submit packet 3 before it happens.

3. here is the e-mail ImmigrationRio@state.gov

put your NVC # case as a subject and you will hear from them in 24 hours :)

Good luck

Another thing to look at is the Brasil consulate reviews at: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php

You may also wish to vist the Consualte's website, some times they have list of things required for the interview.

http://embaixadaamericana.org.br/

I looked and the Rio embasy has all the needed forms there.

I submitted the packet 3 when I got it from the consulate...but you can submit it as soon as you find out your case is in the consulate.

It's safer to submit the forms from packet 3 when your fiance actually has the documents asked for.

More info: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/inde...0De%20Janereiro - you'll find lots of tips there about packet 3, I-134 and the medical. You'll also find the immigration direct number at the consulate.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

Submit packet 3 once you know your case is in Rio, it will take up to 2 months to have your interview scheduled anyway so I wouldn´t wait for the police certificates.

Where's your fiance from? Maybe we could help you find out how long it'll take for her to get the certificates. In São Paulo, the state one can be obtained online and the federal one takes 15 days to be ready.
