Do the Mods have to give a warning

I created this account in 2007 with an email that I never check.

I was sent a PM with an order to remove my signature or administrative action would be taken. Little did the mod know I was away from the computer all day...When I came back later that evening I couldn't login and it said I was suspended for 1 day (maybe it was 3, not sure)....I was given 0 access to the site. I couldn't read any threads and I couldn't even check my own inbox (had 2 unread messages from mods).

When the suspension was lifted I noticed the time difference between the first PM and the 2nd PM which informed me of my suspension due to failure to obey the mods orders was about 90 minutes....The mod said not being around was no excuse as her message would have also appeared in my email?

I think that scenario is much the same as how Bill and JohnSmith2007 received lengthy suspensions. As kathryn likes to point out, I don't know all the information behind the situation, so I am only going by what these members posted elsewhere regarding their bans.

We have addressed the particular case above. Mods will wait until the member has logged back in (and has the PM presented to them) prior to further action in cases such as this. This was actually a directive created as a result of your case if I am not mistaken.

How long does it usually take to receive a response from you re these kinds of matters? It's been almost a month now, 2 PMs and 1 "contact us" request

Well what I replied to the mod (when I finally got to read the private message after my suspension was lifted) was that next time I post a controversial signature "you have my permission to remove it on my behalf".....If it was so bad then why let those hours pass with my signature still in place? Just kindly remove it and send a PM saying "that signature violates TOS, please find a more appropriate one, thanks!"

The other thing that is silly is when you are suspended you have 0 access to the site.....I think you should be able to read the comments and threads, and only make the posting function disabled...

I would think 24 hours would be a fair amount of time to expect someone to reply to a PM or email. But 90 minutes?

Still, I think 24 hours is not too much to ask, particularly if the end result is going to be that someone is banned. ETA Unless it is an egregious offense or if the person has been warned again and again but has not changed their behavior.

OK, I lied. Well, guessed the time between the 1st PM and 2nd....I checked the records and it was not an hour and a half but 2 hours 51 minutes....

Cool - so was an issue with the understanding of how 'immediately' was to be interpreted??? OK ! Got It !

I honestly don't see why 24 hours is much to ask in this situation. What if - god forbid - real life got in the person's way and they didn't have the time nor the means to log in and address the problem?

Hell, even 12 hours would be more reasonable than just under 3.
